When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 217

Henrietta’s beautiful eyes turned cold as ice. After a moment, however, she decided not to take it personally. She reasoned that Leticia probably idolized Yosef and was therefore overly critical of her, especially her long romantic history.

Granting Leticia the benefit of the doubt, Henrietta didn’t get angry. Instead, she finally spoke. “Sometimes, what you see isn’t the truth.”

Leticia raised an eyebrow. “Are you suggesting Artina has a secret relationship?” Before Henrietta could answer, she rushed on, “Those are just publicity stunts, all part of the game. You work behind the scenes, you should know that. Are you talking about that Matteo guy? Isn’t he your ex-boyfriend? You, of all people, should know the truth.”

As she said this, Leticia paused, the realization dawning on her. That’s right, Matteo was Henrietta’s ex. So why would Henrietta say something like that? Could Artina and Matteo be… involved?

She suddenly remembered that Henrietta had broken up with Matteo on the day of her birthday party, the same day Matteo had claimed was meant to be their engagement party…

Leticia’s eyes widened. Was Henrietta implying that Artina was having an affair with Matteo?

But just as quickly, she dismissed the thought. “If you know something, then say it clearly.”

Henrietta gazed at the distant scenery. “Even if I told you, would you believe me? People only believe what they want to believe.” She then turned her gaze back to Leticia.

Leticia frowned. “Actually, I know why you’re targeting Artina. She told me everything.”

Henrietta arched an eyebrow. “Oh? Do tell.”

“It’s because of your ex-boyfriend,” Leticia said confidently. “Before Jethro and Artina were set to be married, she told people she was going to pursue Matteo. That’s why you have a problem with her.”

Henrietta let out a small, cold laugh at the absurdity.

But Leticia continued earnestly, “I don’t care what your reasons are. But you’re married to Yosef now, and he’s so good to you…”

“You’ve already made that point,” Henrietta cut her off. “There’s no need to repeat yourself. If and when I do something to betray Yosef, you can come and hold me accountable. Until then, you have no right to preach to me. I haven’t done anything wrong, so there’s no need for you to act so superior. If you like Artina, then by all means, like her. It has very little to do with me. We’ve seen the view. Let’s go back. It’s clear you didn’t genuinely want to show me the scenery anyway. We might as well return before things get any more uncomfortable.”

With that, Henrietta turned and walked away. She had always been direct, her words not always pleasant. She simply mirrored the attitude she received. She was willing to be patient with Leticia for Yosef’s sake, but her patience had its limits.

The conversation had clearly ended on a sour note. After Henrietta turned to leave, Leticia, equally displeased, followed her. Though they were walking back together, the air between them was tense.
