Jethro shot a look at Henrietta. "Why do you dislike Artina? Don't you know exactly why?"
Leticia couldn't stay silent any longer. "It's because of her ex-boyfriend."
Yosef finally erupted. He slammed his hand on the table with a thunderous crack that silenced the room. "Insolence!"
In an instant, Calvert and several other bodyguards stepped forward, their presence looming.
Yosef’s eyes were like ice as he stared down his siblings. "You two. Get to the west hall and kneel. You won't get up until morning." He then turned his cold fury on Artina. "And you. Get out. You are not worthy of setting foot in the Nash family home."
Artina was terrified. She had never witnessed a man whose anger was so palpable it felt like it could shatter her soul. She started sobbing harder, apologizing profusely as she tried to flee.
But Jethro grabbed her arm again, refusing to let go. He faced Yosef, his voice ringing with defiance. "She's not leaving. She's the woman I love, and I told you, I'm marrying her tomorrow. And I won't be kneeling in any hall. I've done nothing wrong. You protect the person you love, and I'll protect mine!"
Yosef felt a dizzying wave of anger wash over him. Henrietta remained quiet, recognizing this was Yosef's battle to fight.
"Fine," Yosef said, his voice dangerously low. "It's admirable to be a responsible man. You've made your choice, now you'll bear the consequences. As head of this family, I do not approve of this marriage. If you insist on marrying her, you are free to do so. But you will be formally disowned by the Nash family. Now, do you still dare to marry her?"
Jethro looked his brother straight in the eye. "You were the one who taught me to stand tall and face the world, no matter what. Why would I be afraid?"
"Good," Yosef said with a grim nod. "Spoken like a true Nash. If you dare to marry her, then I dare to publicly announce your removal from this family."
"Do what you will," Jethro replied, his jaw set.
The conflict between the brothers had escalated to an irreversible point. Henrietta glanced at Yosef, wanting to say something, but the words wouldn't come. The most shocking part was that Ryland and Zelina hadn't said a single word.
"In that case," Yosef continued, his voice devoid of emotion, "get out. Go live happily ever after with your beloved. Let's see if she still looks at you the same way when you're no longer a Nash."
"I'm capable of making my own way," Jethro said pointedly.
"I'm glad to hear it," Yosef replied coolly. "Calvert, please escort Jethro out."
"Yes, sir," Calvert said with a bow.
Artina stared, her world tilting on its axis. What was happening? Jethro was being kicked out of his own family? Was Yosef truly this ruthless?
No one dared to speak. Even Leticia was silent, recognizing the depth of Yosef's rage.
