When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 240

It was the first time they had truly torn away all pretense, confronting each other head-on.

Artina flinched, a flicker of guilt in her eyes. "I don't know what nonsense you're talking about! What other lies are you going to invent to frame me?"

Henrietta stared her down. "I warned you multiple times. I tried to warn Jethro. But your powers of persuasion are clearly very strong. Artina, I ask you, where do you get the nerve to date and marry Jethro while you're pregnant with another man's child?!"

The accusation dropped like a bomb, stunning everyone into silence. Everyone except Charlotte and Winona. Matteo swayed, almost collapsing to his knees. Henrietta... she hadn't said whose child it was. Jethro stared in utter disbelief. "What... what did you say?"

Artina gasped. "What?"

Yosef's handsome face darken with sheer fury, but he remained silent.

Henrietta looked at Jethro. "Are the words that difficult to understand? This is why I've been targeting her. This is what I tried to warn you about, but you wouldn't listen."

"You're lying!" Artina shrieked, losing all reason as she lunged at Henrietta, ready to claw at her.

But before she could reach her, Yosef kicked her away. Artina hit the ground hard, crying out in pain. It was a humiliating, disgraceful scene. There was no dignity left. But surprisingly, her abdomen remained resilient. Even a solid kick hadn't been enough to cause a miscarriage. Scrambling up from the ground, Artina looked pleadingly at Jethro, shaking her head, her face a mask of pitiful tears. "It's not true, Jethro, don't listen to her..."

"Drop the act!" Henrietta cut her off. "Do you dare to go to the hospital with us for a check-up right now?!"

The suggestion sent Artina into a full-blown panic.

Jethro, snapping out of his shock, stared at Artina, his eyes wide with fury. "How could you?" he roared. He raised his hand and brought it down, slapping her hard across the face. His eyes blazed with furious tears. "Get out! Get out!"

Terrified, Artina kept shaking her head. "No, no, Jethro, let me explain! I didn't, she's slandering me, I didn't!"

Jethro took two steps back, away from her. "You didn't? Then let's go to the hospital. Now! Right now! Immediately!"

In that moment, the gentle, refined man was gone, replaced by a figure of pure rage, veins bulging on his forehead.

Yosef stood to the side, his face dark, saying nothing. He knew the woman was bad news, but he never imagined she was this depraved. Her level of depravity was almost impressive.

Artina shook her head frantically. "No, I won't go to the hospital! I'm innocent, why should I have to go? Just because she made some baseless accusation, I have to go and prove my innocence? No, I won't! Why should I? Jethro, believe me, please believe me!" Artina was cursing herself for not having gotten rid of the baby last night. If she had, she wouldn't be afraid of any hospital visit.

Hearing her refusal, Jethro looked at Henrietta.

"Yes, ma'am," the lawyer said, bowing his head.

Henrietta's original plan had been to deal with the house first, but the situation had escalated so quickly that she had to prioritize dealing with Artina.

Yosef had brought a fleet of cars, so there was plenty of room. Artina was put in one car with a bodyguard watching her. Jethro, overwhelmed, got into another car by himself. Henrietta rode with Yosef. Yosef had received the video, but since they were all in separate cars, he didn't immediately forward it to Jethro. He watched it himself first.

Henrietta sat in silence, feeling like a child who had done something wrong.

Yosef looked at her. "You knew all along."

"Yes," she nodded.

He continued to look at her. "Why didn't you show this to me from the start? If you had, Jethro wouldn't have been so foolish!"

He seemed to be fighting to control his anger... directed at her.
