When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 242

And a criminal she was.

Seeing Jethro open the video, Artina cried out, “What is that? Henrietta, what did you send my husband? You're framing me! I deny it, I deny everything!”

Henrietta turned to her. “Framing you? Should we call a doctor to examine you right now?”

Artina remained defiant. “Even if you did, you would have bribed them beforehand! With your power, you could bribe every doctor in Juno City, in the entire country!”

Jethro had already finished the video. His face was dark, but his lips were unnaturally pale.

So this was his pathetic, laughable love?

The thought of everything he had done for Artina made him sick.

That piece of candy from their childhood... was it really candy?

Or was it poison?

How could she have been so audacious?

To accept an arranged marriage and date him while pregnant, to so casually enjoy all the affection he showered upon her!

And she'd told the doctor she wanted surgery to erase any trace of the abortion?

What did she take him for?

Before Henrietta could speak, Jethro shot to his feet. “Fine. We'll go abroad. We'll find a doctor overseas right now! There's no way you could have bribed them all in advance!”

He looked at Artina, his voice suddenly calm.

Artina's pupils constricted. “What did she show you? You actually believe her? How could I ever do something like that? Don't let her fool you! It won't work, even overseas! Yosef has connections everywhere; bribing foreign doctors would be nothing to him! They're just trying to break us up!”

The moment the words left her mouth, Jethro strode forward and slapped her across the face. Artina was stunned.

He had always been so gentle and considerate with her.

And now... he hit her?

“Darling, I'm telling the truth. Yosef and Henrietta are willing to do anything to break us up, even setting this whole thing up. Bribing doctors all over the world is nothing to them! Yosef even got us a fake marriage license!”

Jethro fell silent and turned to look at Yosef.

Yosef said nothing.

At that moment, Winona chimed in, “Artina, who do you think you are? Are you the only woman in the world? Does Jethro have to be with you? You think they'd bribe doctors across the globe just to break you up? You've been in too many soap operas.”

Jethro held out his phone, showing Artina the video. “Are you going to deny that's you? Aborting the baby and getting reconstructive surgery! You planned every step perfectly! It's a shame you're not a spy!”

Artina, of course, frantically shook her head. “That's not me! It's a fake, it's doctored! You know how much they've been against us from the start. Yosef was even willing to kick you out of the family for me. What wouldn't he do? Faking a video is nothing to him!”

Artina stuck to her story, refusing to admit a thing.

She even turned the accusation around, claiming that with Henrietta's and Yosef's power, they could bribe any doctor and fake any video.

She was so convincing in her denial that, for a moment, it was hard to tell what was real.

It took Jethro a long time to process the shock. “It was your ex-boyfriend? And they've been hooking up for ages!”

Henrietta nodded.

“Then what is this?” Jethro's shock turned to fury. “Why are you only telling me now? Did you enjoy watching me get played for the world's biggest fool?”

Henrietta looked at him. “I... wasn't actually obligated to tell you, was I?”

Jethro ground his teeth, then let out a self-deprecating laugh. “You're right. I'm an idiot.”

Henrietta sighed. “It's not entirely your fault. And while I wasn't obligated to tell you, it's my fault, too. It really is.”

For a moment, Jethro didn't know what to say. It was as if all the life had been drained out of him. Could he really blame Henrietta completely?

Obviously not.

She had every right to keep quiet, even forever.

Besides, he had been hostile towards her because of Artina, never giving her a kind word or look. Jethro felt a profound sense of defeat.

Henrietta explained why she hadn't said anything and told him about her plan. “This is what I was worried about, which is why I held back. So... what are you thinking?”

“I don't know,” Jethro said, his voice weak and exhausted.

The blow was too great. He couldn't wrap his head around it... he didn't even dare to think about it too deeply.
