Yes, that was it. That’s how it should be! Jethro was just angry right now. Once he cooled down, he’d soften up. After all, he liked her so much. When you really like someone, you don’t care if you’ve been cheated on or made a fool of. There were plenty of stories like that in TV shows and novels. That was true love.
With that thought, Artina immediately said, “My love, I know you’re very angry. This will take time to accept! I… I’ll give you time. I’m willing to wait for you!”
For the first time in his life, Jethro felt physically sickened by someone’s words, so disgusted he wanted to throw up and hit her. He finally understood why Henrietta was so insistent on dealing with Artina. Letting her off easy with a private settlement would be far too generous. Her level of depravity and toxicity was enough to shatter anyone’s morals. These weren't the words of a human being; they were the words of an animal.
Jethro felt dizzy with rage. Seeing her face and remembering that he had once been good to her, had kissed her, had even slept in the same bed with her… he felt his entire being recoil. His pathetic, laughable “love” was an absolute farce. That night Artina had clung to him, hinting at so much more, he had controlled himself. He’d thought… his girlfriend was pure, and he had to respect her. The result… what a joke!
Seeing Jethro remain silent, Artina cried even more pitifully. “I was assaulted and that’s why I’m pregnant. I’m miserable, I’m the victim. You can’t blame the victim. You already married me. Even if the certificate was fake, you married me willingly, and you were in such a hurry to do it. I promise, if you forgive me, I’ll get rid of the pregnancy immediately. I’ll be good to you from now on, I’ll do whatever you want. Just… just don’t abandon me. I’m already your wife! How can you abandon your wife?”
At this, Artina felt a surge of hatred for Yosef. A fake certificate! If it had been real, Jethro couldn’t just abandon her so easily. Even a divorce required a one-month cooling-off period. And she would have been entitled to a share of his assets!
“Wife?” Jethro sneered. “With a wife like you, I doubt I’d live to see next year! You keep saying you’re a victim. You know you’re pregnant with another man’s child, that you’re in this disgusting situation! So let me ask you, that night you wanted to sleep with me, what exactly was your plan?!”
Artina froze. She hadn't expected him to bring that up.
“I…” For a moment, she couldn’t think of a way to twist the truth.
Jethro took a deep breath, fighting another wave of nausea. She was carrying another man's child and still wanted to sleep with him? How did she have the audacity?
Seeing her at a loss for words, Jethro continued for her. “I’ll tell you. You wanted to fool me, pretend it was your first time, and then smear some blood on the sheets afterward to cover it all up! Is that it?!”
Anyone with a brain could figure out Artina's plan.
With that, Jethro exploded in a fit of rage. “Are you the only woman in the world? Why the hell should I put up with this?” he roared, then turned to his bodyguards. “Gag her, knock her out, and take her away.”
He couldn’t stand to hear another word from her. It was utterly nauseating. Even now, she showed no remorse, no guilt, only a self-righteous insistence that she was the victim. She even acted as if she was making a huge concession. It was beyond laughable.
Hearing his orders, Artina shot to her feet and backed away. “No, don’t…” She looked pitiful and tragic.
But Jethro only felt waves of disgust. He glanced at a bodyguard. “Can you cut out her tongue?”
The bodyguard paused for a second, then replied, “It’s not impossible.”
Artina was instantly terrified, stumbling backward. “What are you trying to do? Are you crazy? Even if I’m guilty, even if I’m wrong, you… you can’t just punish me however you want! This is… this is assault!”
