Henrietta’s lips thinned. “You guessed?”
“I didn’t know the whole tangled history with your ex-boyfriend before,” Yosef said. “Now that I do, it’s an easy guess. He betrayed you long ago, so would you really be kind enough to let him live in the villa for over a month? It’s your villa; installing a few cameras would be simple.”
“Your goal was to collect more evidence, wasn’t it? That Artina woman has clearly been to the villa more than once. Were they meeting there regularly? Don’t tell me you also have videos of those two scumbags fooling around in the bedroom.”
Henrietta was speechless. How did he know everything?
She felt a little embarrassed. “Yes, I have it all.”
Yosef frowned slightly. “Is it watchable?” The thought alone was disgusting.
“I didn’t watch it,” Henrietta admitted. “I paid someone to watch it and transcribe the conversations for me. He was the one who told me… whether they did it or not.”
Yosef raised an eyebrow. So that’s how it was. “Not bad,” he praised. “Henrietta, you’re very impressive.”
“Don’t make fun of me,” she said.
Yosef looked at her stunning reflection in the mirror. “I’m not. I think you handled it perfectly.”
“By the way,” Henrietta asked, “what did Jethro say earlier?”
Yosef recounted the conversation, then added, “Now that he’s not blinded by love, his head is clear. He’s not giving that woman any chance to spin her story.”
Henrietta almost wanted to laugh but felt it would be unkind. She just pursed her lips. “He’s your brother. He’s no fool. He was just looking through a thick filter before; you can’t blame him. To be fair, Artina, especially with that filter, is very deceptive.”
“Mm,” Yosef agreed.
By then, Henrietta’s hair was dry. Yosef turned off the dryer and picked up a comb. Henrietta raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything this time. She just watched quietly in the mirror as the man combed her hair with great concentration. Stroke by stroke, he smoothed out her long, thick hair. Henrietta smiled softly.
When he finished, Yosef put down the comb. “There. Is my wife satisfied?”
Her smile widened, and she didn’t hold back her praise. “Completely satisfied. Mr. Nash, you really are… the complete package.”
Yosef pulled her to her feet. “That’s high praise. But I can’t cook…” He had never even stepped into a kitchen.
“And even if I am, it’s worth it,” he added after a beat. Then, before she could speak, he leaned close to her ear and murmured, “I may not know how to cook right now. But I know how to do something else. Would my wife like to try?”
Henrietta’s beautiful face flushed a deep red. But the man didn’t wait for an answer. He kissed her, a tender and intoxicating kiss that promised romance and passion. Within moments, Henrietta’s mind went blank, filled only with the overwhelming presence of this man. But now… she was no longer awkward or nervous. She had learned how to respond, how to enjoy it. She had even learned… how to match his rhythm. Inevitably, her own primal, instinctive desires were stirred.
Their breathing grew heavier…
Yosef broke the kiss, lifting her into his arms and striding toward the bed. Everything seemed to be falling into place, as natural as a river flowing to the sea.
A moment later, Yosef stopped his kisses, gazing deeply at his beautiful, captivating wife. His voice was husky as he said, “Resourceful and patient, emotionally reserved and excellent at hiding your thoughts. Yet you have your own principles and don’t compromise easily. Henrietta, you truly… have amazed me.”
He had originally thought she had a cold and detached personality, one that might even seem timid to outsiders. He never imagined that her heart was so resilient, that it held a fire—an unwillingness to let evil go unpunished.
Henrietta looked at him quietly, her fair skin flushed with a lovely pink. “If you praise me like that,” she whispered, “you're going to inflate my ego.”
Yosef chuckled and bent down to kiss her again. “Then let it inflate. I’ll be right here to back you up.”
Another wave of fiery passion swept over them.
