When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 263

“Yes,” Henrietta said. “And let me tell you something else. On the day of my birthday party… Artina and Matteo hooked up on a blind spot on the hotel rooftop.” “What?” Jethro was once again floored. “How do you know that? Wasn’t it a blind spot?” A blind spot meant no cameras. “Yes,” Henrietta said coolly. “I had someone plant a hidden camera there beforehand. Artina wanted to humiliate me, even if it was behind my back where I’d never know. She still needed that psychological satisfaction. It just proves she’s rotten to the core.” She continued, “Also, I couldn’t bring myself to show you this before, and I only had it compiled in the last couple of days. While they were in the villa, Artina and Matteo talked a lot about you. They also talked about that candy you’ve always held onto as your sweetest memory. If you knew what she was really thinking back then, you wouldn’t be sad anymore. I have the truth. All of it. Do you… want to see it?” “You bugged the villa too? You let them stay there just to gather all this?” “That’s right,” Henrietta replied rationally. “But I didn’t watch the videos myself; they’re too disgusting. I had someone watch them and transcribe the conversations for me. I didn’t get daily reports, just updates every so often. That’s why I only just got the transcripts of them talking about you.” Jethro took a few deep breaths, then chugged another half-bottle of liquor. “Henrietta, send it to me. I want to see everything.” “The videos, or the transcripts?” Henrietta asked. Jethro inhaled sharply several more times. “The transcripts.” He didn’t think he could stomach the videos. Watching them would probably haunt him for the rest of his life. “Alright,” Henrietta agreed. “I’ll hang up now and send them over. If you don’t believe…” “I believe you!” Jethro cut her off. At this point, there was no way he wouldn’t believe her. “Okay.” Henrietta ended the call and began searching through her phone. Finding the files was easy. The person she’d hired had organized everything meticulously into labeled folders. Yosef held her tightly, watching her silently as she worked, not saying a word. He watched as she calmly located the named files and sent them to Jethro one by one. In that moment, he saw her as a master tactician, moving her pieces across the board with chilling precision and an unwavering moral compass.. Henrietta only sent Jethro the evidence that pertained to him—the parts where they discussed and plotted against him. After sending them, she said, “There. You should take a look.” Then she put her phone down and glanced at Yosef. “Should we… send a few people over to keep an eye on him?” “No need,” Yosef said. “He’s a grown man. If he can take a hit, he needs to learn how to get back up. Besides, that woman is utterly repulsive. Jethro wouldn’t hurt himself over her. If he did, it would only prove he’s an even bigger fool. From what I know of him, he might be foolish and naive, but he’s not that far gone.” Jethro was just an emotional, passionate man with a romantic streak. With the right partner, a man like that could have a lifetime of happiness. After falling for the wrong person, he might be heartbroken, but he wouldn't be stupidly self-destructive. “Okay, good,” Henrietta nodded, then asked, “Do… you want to see them?” Yosef pursed his lips and stroked her hair. “I think I’ll pass.” He’d seen enough schemes and deceptions in his life. The business world was full of them; he engaged in his own ruthless calculations every single day. He had no desire to look at more. “Alright.” Henrietta set her phone aside. “Well, I think there are more important things to do with my wife,” Yosef murmured, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. He lifted her chin and kissed her lips. Henrietta was flustered. “Didn’t we… just do that?” She gently pushed against him. “Jethro is definitely going to call me back after he’s done reading.” Yosef was clearly displeased. The initial pain and discomfort of Henrietta’s first time were gone, so… once a night was definitely not enough. He had, after all, ordered a whole case of condoms to be delivered to the master bedroom. “Fine,” Yosef conceded, though he wasn’t happy about it. “Even though I don’t want to read them, we have time now. Why don’t you give me the highlights of what you sent him?” Henrietta slowly raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you… tired? Don’t you want to sleep?” She figured he must have exerted a lot of energy earlier and would surely be exhausted. Yosef tilted his head. “Henrietta, are you questioning my stamina?” Henrietta’s eyes went wide. “No, that’s not it. Okay, I’ll tell you,” she said quickly. Meanwhile, Jethro stared at the files that had finished downloading to his phone. He hesitated for a long time before opening them. Each file was named, so the titles alone gave him the gist. After another long look and a few more gulps of liquor, he finally tapped on the first one. The transcript was of Artina telling Matteo that she was engaged to a powerful man, someone who could bankrupt the entire Sargent family. She was plotting with Matteo, explaining that the marriage was purely for social climbing and that she intended to continue her affair with him. In fact, she claimed she was doing it all for Matteo. They were planning to bleed both sides dry: Matteo would drain Henrietta, and Artina, of course, would drain him. She was even trying to seduce Matteo right then and there, so eager that it was vulgar. Matteo actually tried to refuse her, but she just scoffed, “What’s there to be afraid of? Even if we get caught, I can spin a story to fix it.” Matteo had even commented that she had a high sex drive.
