When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 287

Hearing this, Charlotte said, “Jethro Nash, you can’t keep that video. Please destroy it in front of her.” It was common practice for celebrities to pay top dollar to make dirt like this disappear. It was too dangerous to leave it out there. While this copy in Jethro’s hands had to go, Henrietta still had plenty more. Losing one wasn't a big deal. Besides, for Jethro, that video was the ultimate symbol of his humiliation. Seeing Charlotte take her side, a flicker of hope ignited in Artina’s eyes. As long as Henrietta wanted to use her, as long as Henrietta remained pragmatic and profit-driven, she had a chance. But Jethro simply said, “No.” He turned and walked away, not giving anyone face. Charlotte quickly reached out and stopped him. “Jethro Nash!” Now that she felt protected by Henrietta, Artina’s bravado returned. “Do you know that’s illegal?” she challenged. Jethro stopped and turned to look at her. Artina’s lips were slightly swollen, but she pressed on, fighting for her future. “That’s surveillance footage, filmed without my knowledge. What’s more, it’s a violation of my privacy. You’re not a law enforcement officer; you’ve infringed on my rights!” Jethro’s face was glacial. “I’m breaking the law? And all the disgusting, underhanded things you did weren’t? You’re just hiding behind that excuse, feeling untouchable while you nauseate everyone around you, is that it?” Artina stood tall. “In your eyes, I’m disgusting and underhanded. Think what you want. But let me tell you something! I’m a free person. As long as I’m not breaking the law, I can do whatever I want! My body is my own! Whether I was pregnant or… taking care of myself, that’s my right! It has nothing to do with you!” Jethro’s eyebrow twitched. “Very good. It seems you really aren’t afraid to die.” Artina had truly gone all in. “If you have the guts, then just kill me. You’ve destroyed my family and you’re trying to ruin my career. What do I have left to live for? Let me tell you, Jethro, we were just engaged for a while, we dated for a bit! Who do you think you are?! Do you think you can just tower over me completely? Let me tell you, you can’t!” “You’re just a man I used to date! It’s none of your business if I get pregnant! You have no right to stand on some moral high ground and judge me! What right do you have to punish me, to hurt me? No matter what I do, you have no right! If things don’t work out, we break up and go our separate ways. What gives you the right to be so high and mighty, to hit me and curse me whenever you feel like it?” Artina’s words successfully enraged Jethro again, and he looked ready to strike. Charlotte grabbed his arm. “Artina! That’s enough!” Artina was seething. “Why should I stop? He’s the one who’s been hitting me, tormenting me! And now he’s threatening me with a video! I’m going to call the police! If you don’t destroy that video completely, I'll call the police and report you for threatening me with explicit footage!” “So what if I called out your brother’s name? I’ll call out any man’s name I want! That’s my freedom! You can’t control me!” “That’s just a weak excuse you’re telling yourself,” Jethro retorted. “You can like every man in the world for all I care. But when you were with me, what you did hurt me! You hurt me first! Don’t twist things around to pretend you did nothing wrong!” “Alright, alright,” Charlotte interjected. “Jethro Nash, there’s no point in arguing further. You have to destroy the video.” Jethro seemed to have no desire to continue the conversation. “Fine,” he said. He took out his phone and deleted the video. Then he handed the phone to Charlotte for her to inspect. Artina eagerly leaned in to look. Seeing that it was completely gone, she finally breathed a sigh of relief, but then asked worriedly, “Are you sure there are no backups?” Charlotte looked at Jethro. Jethro took his phone back. “The thought of it disgusts me.” With that, he turned and left. Artina, still worried about backups, wanted to chase after him. Charlotte stopped her. “There won’t be any backups. Since he promised Ms. Sargent he wouldn’t interfere with your career, he won’t. Besides, that video isn’t exactly something pleasant for him to look at, either.” Artina was still skeptical. “Really?” “If Ms. Sargent hadn’t vouched for you, you’d be finished today,” Charlotte said plainly. “When he says it’s destroyed, it’s destroyed. As long as you work hard on set and focus on making money for the company, Ms. Sargent has no time to meddle in your private affairs.” Charlotte’s words made sense. If Jethro had been dead set on destroying her, he wouldn’t have come here in the first place. He had intended to, but Henrietta had protected her, which was why the enraged Jethro had pushed the Harmon family to the brink of bankruptcy in just two days. So, Artina chose to believe her. She wiped away her tears. “Then… I’ll go back to the set.” “Go take care of your face first,” Charlotte stopped her. “Rest for a couple of days. I’ll reschedule your scenes.” Artina nodded. “Okay.” It was perfect timing. She had just had the abortion and needed a couple of days to recover anyway. Even after hitting rock bottom, Henrietta was still protecting her. But Artina felt no gratitude. In fact, she hated Henrietta more than ever. If it weren’t for Henrietta, she and Jethro wouldn’t be in this mess. Henrietta was only protecting her because she wanted to profit from her—it was a simple business transaction. As soon as Artina left, Charlotte pulled out her phone and called Henrietta. Henrietta answered in her office. “How did it go?”
