When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 312

It wasn't until Henrietta was seated that the emcee announced, 'Please, enjoy your meal!' Only then did the clapping subside as everyone began to eat. Even though the banquet was held at a five-star hotel, the dishes were the kind that Yosef Nash would have sneered at. For ordinary people, however, it was an impressive spread. Once the dinner began, an important ritual followed: the toasts. Key members of the production team—the assistant director, the screenwriter, the main creative staff, along with the lead actors and important supporting cast—all had to toast the executive producer and the head director. Since Charlotte and Henrietta were sitting together, it was convenient. A group of people approached with their glasses, offering toasts one by one, creating a lively scene. Charlotte and Henrietta accepted them all. Then, it was Artina and Matteo's turn. Artina held up her wine glass, looking reluctant, but her words were honeyed. She even bowed her head slightly in a show of humility. 'Thank you, Ms. Sargent, Director Tatum. And thank you, Ms. Sargent, for this opportunity.' However, Henrietta once again refused her toast. She didn't even touch her glass or look at Artina, simply stating coolly, 'There's no need for a toast. You'll have enough on your plate soon enough; just focus on your work. Just focus on that.' Artina's facade crumbled. Feigning hurt, her eyes welled up. 'Ms. Sargent, why won't you accept my toast?' Henrietta frowned at her and said bluntly, 'How can you do something so despicable and then pretend it never happened? How can you stand there and act so damn entitled, as if you're the one who's been wronged?' The words left Artina speechless. 'Based on what you did to my uncle,' Henrietta continued, her voice sharp, 'why do you think I should accept a toast from you?' A storm of complex emotions raged inside Artina. She wanted nothing more than to splash the wine in Henrietta's face, but she knew she wouldn't dare. Killing her would be a better option than doing that now. Instead, she could only lower her eyes and murmur, 'I'm sorry, Ms. Sargent.' Henrietta said nothing more. But then Matteo stepped up, holding his glass out to Henrietta. 'Ms. Sargent, a toast to you.' Henrietta was silent for a beat. '...I won't accept a toast from you, either,' she said with disgust. Matteo seemed genuinely confused as to why he was also being rejected. 'I haven't done anything that terrible,' he said. 'And you were the one who insisted on breaking up. I was... the one who got dumped.' Henrietta looked at him and let out a cold laugh. 'It seems that after spending so much time with Ms. Harmon, you've picked up some of her traits. You can both so brazenly forget the things you've said and done. Have you forgotten? When I took back the villa, you were ready to argue with me down to the last penny, demanding I pay you back.' Matteo was once again rendered speechless. When it came down to it, he and Artina really were quite similar, both capable of conveniently forgetting their own sordid actions and words. Goldfish are said to have a seven-second memory. These two... probably had even less. 'That's enough,' Henrietta began, but before she could finish, a figure lunged forward. The sudden movement startled everyone. Before anyone could react, the man was in front of Henrietta. In a flash, he raised a dagger high and plunged it toward her chest, shouting, 'You bitch! Go to hell!' Everyone was frozen in shock by the sudden violence. Some stared blankly, others screamed. Henrietta herself had no time to react at all.
