Artina's mental fortitude was terrifyingly resilient, offering the detectives absolutely zero leverage.
Perhaps years of acting had trained her to brainwash herself far more effectively than a normal person ever could. Her sense of conviction was absolute.
She genuinely convinced herself that she hadn't done anything wrong, fully believing her own innocence, which meant she never slipped up once.
The police were stonewalled, unable to uncover any hard evidence linking her directly to the crime.
The most frustrating hurdle was that The Attacker had committed suicide, permanently taking his secrets to the grave.
Eventually, the authorities were forced to close the investigation. They officially ruled that the man, knowing he didn't have much time left, was driven by a deranged hatred for the wealthy, leading to his spontaneous attack on Henrietta.
Henrietta and her inner circle knew the truth, though. Artina was guilty as sin.
They just couldn't prove it in court.
Having successfully evaded justice, Artina was ecstatic as her fame skyrocketed.
Much like Matteo, her priority was the fact that her career had not only survived but exploded beyond belief.
The studio's lucrative long-term development plans for the golden duo remained completely intact.
Even though they could no longer use Henrietta as a stepping stone into elite society...
Their newfound A-list status elevated them far above the average person. They were swimming in millions, living a life of utter luxury.
Meanwhile, Joaquin Leland hadn't set foot in Henrietta's office since their last tense encounter.
Perhaps her threat to call the cops and file harassment charges had actually spooked him, or maybe it had just bruised his ego.
Either way, his absence was a massive relief for Henrietta. Not having to deal with his arrogant presence looming over her desk made her workdays infinitely more peaceful.
As for Aster Leland...
He had completely vanished.
Henrietta barely knew him to begin with.
It was as if he had popped onto the stage, delivered two incredibly dramatic monologues, and then permanently exited stage left.
That crossed a line.
Henrietta immediately snatched up her phone, ready to dial security.
But Joaquin's hand shot out, swiping the device right out of her grasp.
"What the hell is your problem?!" she snapped, slamming her palm onto the desk.
"Relax," Joaquin said, a smug grin playing on his lips. "I just came by for a chat. If you didn't like what I said, feel free to ignore it."
"To be honest, the way you keep pushing me away—completely unfazed by the chase—might be lacking in typical flirtation, but it's incredibly intoxicating."
"A woman who falls into bed the second you compliment her is boring. I prefer someone icy. Someone like you. It makes the game infinitely more entertaining."
Henrietta took a sharp breath to steady herself and reached for the landline on her desk.
But Joaquin quickly intercepted her once more.
