Yosef spoke up, "Henrietta doesn't accept it. She doesn't accept your so-called kindness, yet you still persist. If that's not harassment, what is? And if she did accept it, wouldn't things be even worse?"
"If she accepted your attention, what would you all say? You'd probably say something far worse. You'd likely drag her name through the mud."
His blunt words left the three Leland siblings completely speechless.
Even Britney didn't know how to respond for a moment.
Yosef looked at Britney. "A life debt is a heavy burden. I admit... I won't make things difficult for the Leland family, but... what about you? You are making things difficult for me."
Britney's expression changed, and she shook her head frantically. "No, I'm not. How could I..."
Yosef cut her off. "Then tell your brothers to stop! From now on, if I hear that either of them is harassing my wife again, the Leland family won't make another dime in the business world."
With that, Yosef grabbed Henrietta's hand and stood up. "Let's go."
Henrietta didn't know what to say anymore.
It seemed... she didn't need to say anything right now. She just nodded. "Okay."
As they were about to leave, Britney called out, "Henrietta!"
The couple stopped in their tracks.
Yosef took a deep breath.
Britney turned back to Henrietta. "Do you think this is right too? Just because you don't like them back, anyone who pursues you deserves the death penalty? You have every right to reject them, but what is so wrong with them wanting to be good to you?"
"Aster even saved you, and this is how you repay him." Tears spilled down Britney's cheeks. "He likes you, he saved you, and he wants to treat you well. What exactly... did he do wrong?"
Henrietta took a deep breath of her own. "First of all, I'm a married woman. I cannot accept anyone's romantic pursuit, or I'd be betraying my marriage. Forcing unwanted attention on me after I've made my boundaries clear isn't devotion—over time, it becomes harassment."
Tears streaming down her face, Britney actually laughed and nodded. "Fine. If my brothers didn't like you, they might not have stepped up when you were in danger. If that had been the outcome, would you be satisfied?"
