When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 48

The moment she finished, Matteo quickly declared, “Henrietta, don’t worry, I will never mix my personal and professional life!”

Henrietta just ignored him.

Artina, however, was getting defiant. Before, she had been with Matteo, stealing his affection and metaphorically crushing Henrietta under her heel. But now… Sargent family heiress, company CEO—Henrietta was so far above her, so powerful. She couldn't swallow her pride.

“Ms. Sargent,” she challenged, “didn’t you break up with Matteo?”

Henrietta’s expression remained cool. “Yes. And?”

Artina blurted out, “Then it’s perfectly reasonable for me to pursue him, isn’t it?”

The room erupted in shocked murmurs. She really was young and fearless.

Matteo shot her a look as if she were carrying the plague and edged away from her. “Ms. Harmon, I’m not interested in you. Please have some self-respect.”

Jolie chimed in, “Exactly! My brother only loves Ms. Sargent! Get lost, he would never look at you!”

Artina pouted. “I’m just pursuing him. It’s not illegal.”

Henrietta raised a delicate eyebrow. So this was their game? They thought she knew nothing, so they were going to flaunt their relationship right under her nose? How utterly disgusting. To have the audacity to play these games with her even after discovering her identity—did they think she was an idiot? Fine.

Artina looked at Henrietta, feigning a hint of timidity. “Ms. Sargent…”

Leon had been made Matteo’s agent after Henrietta got him the job, so he was naturally very concerned.

Henrietta stated coolly, “I keep my personal and professional lives separate. I will not let private matters affect my work. For the film, not only will the original policies and goals remain unchanged, but we will also be increasing the investment. Whether it’s additional funding or a bigger marketing push later on, just prepare the proposals and submit them.”

Everyone’s eyes widened. What? She was going to increase the investment? Could it be that Ms. Sargent regretted the breakup? Or maybe Artina’s public declaration of pursuit had made Ms. Sargent nervous and competitive?

Matteo was once again moved to tears.

Artina was stunned, then a wave of smug satisfaction washed over her. Henrietta was a complete idiot! An absolute fool! A brainless pig! She deserved to be played and humiliated like this! When Matteo got back together with her, it would be child’s play to drain her of all her money. For someone so stupid, it would be a crime not to scam her!

And here she was, acting all high and mighty, as if being the Sargent heiress meant she could do whatever she wanted. It was clear now that this pig Henrietta knew nothing. She really had broken up with him just because he forgot to say “happy birthday.” Otherwise, why would she not only refrain from blacklisting Matteo but actually increase his funding? And as a bonus, she, Artina, would ride his coattails to stardom!
