Winona, however, seemed unusually curious and peppered her with questions.
Henrietta slowly raised an eyebrow and typed: [Are you interested in Joaquin?]
Silence from Winona.
Charlotte tagged her. [!!! No way! Winona, is it true?]
Winona denied it. [No. I’m just being nosy.]
Despite her denial, Henrietta had a hunch. Winona was known for her curiosity, but this was excessive. Perhaps Winona was a bit embarrassed, since the Lelands had approached the Sargents for an alliance and not her family, the Stetsons.
Winona changed the subject. [So, is Yosef next?]
Henrietta didn’t answer, still mulling over the possibility of Winona’s interest in Joaquin.
Charlotte chimed in. [Yosef is a great choice! If for no other reason, he’s incredibly generous. I mean, a multi-billion-dollar birthday gift he just gave away casually. If you have to marry someone, marry the generous one!]
Winona added: [With Yosef’s wealth, at least you wouldn’t have to worry about marrying the wrong person and jeopardizing the Sargent Group.]
That hit home. As the sole heiress of the Sargent family, that was something Henrietta had to consider. The right husband would secure everything; the wrong one could lead to a disastrous end.
Charlotte continued: [Not just secure it. If Henrietta marries into the Nash family, the Sargent Group could grow ten, even a hundred times over. Even if something went wrong down the line, you’d still come out ahead.]
Henrietta pulled herself from her thoughts. Winona and Charlotte had continued their conversation.
Seeing their questions, Henrietta replied: [It’s not clear yet. It depends on the Nash family.]
Yosef had helped her tonight and knew she’d been on a date with Joaquin. A man as proud and powerful as Yosef would probably no longer be interested in a date with her. After all, he hadn’t been her first choice. So, she truly didn't know if the Nash family would still propose a meeting.
Winona typed: [Well, I’m sure Zelina will want to. She and your mom are close. If you hadn’t been with Matteo back then, maybe Yosef and Britney would never have happened?]
Charlotte added: [Exactly. You two would have been married long ago, and none of this would have happened. Still, who knows what’s really going on with Britney and Yosef. Henrietta, you’re not going to end up as collateral damage in their drama, are you?]
