When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 76

Henrietta shook her head. "I'm not sure. When you don't know someone, you only see the surface. Now that I've gotten to know him a little…" She shrugged. "It's hard to put into words."

In any case, she didn't like it. As the sole heir to the Sargent family fortune, she had been raised to be strong, composed, and self-restrained. One day, the vast Sargent Group might be in her hands, and she could never afford to be a naive, carefree princess. Her husband, therefore, could not be so domineering and aggressive—at least not toward her. That was one of the reasons she had chosen Matteo, but she never expected he would betray her.

"Well, you were right to reject him if you don't like him," Charlotte said. "But is he going to keep harassing you like this?"

Winona, who had been silent, finally spoke. "The Leland family doesn't run this city. Henrietta, you have me and Charlotte. Our families are on par with the Lelands. If he tries anything, I'll convince my parents to back the Sargents."

Charlotte immediately raised her hand. "Me too! Don't you worry, Henrietta!"

"Thanks, you two," Henrietta said with a grateful smile.

"But…" Winona tapped her chin thoughtfully. "You really don't like his type? I thought he was kind of… attractive."

Henrietta raised an eyebrow. "Are you actually interested in him?"

"No," Winona denied quickly.

Henrietta let it drop. It was an awkward topic. Even if Winona was interested, Joaquin was now publicly pursuing her, putting Winona in an impossible position.

Suddenly, Charlotte clapped her forehead. "I almost forgot! Sabrina and Zelina are good friends. No matter what, if Joaquin causes trouble, the Nash family will help out, right?"

"Speaking of which," Winona added, "did you hear what Joaquin said? He claimed that Yosef and his sister, Britney, are still carrying a torch for each other."

Charlotte frowned. "Do you think he's making a big show of pursuing Henrietta just to help his sister get Yosef back?"

Henrietta was startled. She had completely forgotten to add him. Slightly embarrassed, she mumbled, "It's fine. He's busy."

"Well, if he's busy, you should be the one to initiate conversation," Sabrina chided.

Henrietta quickly finished her dinner and stood up. "I know, Mom."

Back in her room after showering, she lay in bed and finally sent Yosef a contact request. After thinking for a moment, she couldn't come up with a clever message, so she settled on the simplest, most direct option: [It's Henrietta Sargent.]

He's a busy man, he probably won't see it right away…

Just as the thought crossed her mind, a new profile appeared in her chat list. Yosef's profile picture was an adorable photo of a little boy hugging a soccer ball. It was a stark contrast to his public image. For a moment, she couldn't reconcile the photo with the man who practically controlled the global economy.
