When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 89

What should she do? The man had controlled the entire situation from the start, and she had been led along every step of the way. Was this the absolute command of a king?

Henrietta’s mind was a mess. She tried to clear her thoughts. “Don’t you have a flight this afternoon?”

Yosef took a sip of wine. “I do. But there’s no rush. If we’re getting married, everything else can be postponed.”

Henrietta blinked.

“Are you scared, Ms. Sargent?”

“No,” she denied immediately. In truth, marrying Yosef was no loss for her. As long as she didn’t expect love, it was a winning proposition.

“Do you still need more time to think?” he asked again.

Henrietta calmed herself. “It’s just that I came here expecting a simple date.”

“I don’t like wasting time on pointless exercises,” he stated.

“I understand,” she nodded. “May I use the restroom?”

“Of course,” Yosef said. He gestured for a member of the kitchen staff to show her the way, then added, “Have Calvert come in.”

Henrietta took her phone and went to the restroom. Her heart was pounding. An impromptu marriage was certainly exciting.

She sent a message to her group chat: [I think Yosef wants to marry me. Now.]

Winona and Charlotte replied instantly with a flurry of shocked-face emojis.

Winona typed: [What are you thinking?]

Charlotte asked: [Where are you right now?]

Henrietta replied to Winona: [My head’s spinning a little.]

Then she tagged Charlotte: [In the restroom.]

Charlotte: [I KNEW IT! Marrying Yosef on the spot, holy crap, that’s insane! You know Britney dated him for ages and couldn’t get a ring! And he wants to marry you immediately!]

Before Henrietta could respond, Charlotte added: [DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! YOU HAVE TO! You’ll be MRS. NASH! That man owns a third of the world’s wealth, and he’s only thirty-one! What are you even thinking about? Babe, marry him! My hands are literally shaking!]

Winona: [In that case, Britney was just a trial run, wasn't she? What if you were his ultimate goal all along?]

Henrietta wrote: [I doubt that.]

Charlotte: [Girl, who cares? The point is, Mrs. Nash is going to be you, not Britney.]

Winona asked: [Henrietta, have you made up your mind?]

Henrietta took a deep breath. [Yes. Zelina said I was always her first choice, and Yosef doesn’t care about my past. I don’t have a reason to refuse.]

Charlotte and Winona flooded the chat with celebratory, screaming emojis.

Henrietta typed: [I’m going back out. Talk later.]

[Go, go, go!]

They both urged.

Henrietta closed WhatsApp and took another deep breath. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her cheeks were inexplicably warm.
