Henrietta froze for a second before nodding. "Yes."

"I was thinking… the gift was too valuable," she began awkwardly. "Since we were meeting today, I thought I would… return it to you in person…"

She trailed off, feeling that any explanation she gave would sound wrong. Why had she brought it with her at all? The situation felt incredibly awkward, and she worried he would misunderstand.

Yosef, however, seemed to grasp her meaning perfectly. "You don't have to return it now," he said, his lips twitching slightly.

A faint blush crept up Henrietta's cheeks. She nodded. "Right."

"Alright." Yosef released her hand and went back to scrolling through his tablet.

Henrietta breathed a small sigh of relief. She put her phone in her purse, zipped it up, and closed her eyes again. She realized she wasn't used to holding hands anymore. When did that start? Was it the moment she overheard Matteo and Artina, the moment she knew she'd been betrayed? Or had she never really been comfortable with it?

And her target was Yosef, of all people. If Yosef was interested in her, what did that mean for Britney?
