Where The Ice Gives Way (Charlotte and Blake) novel Chapter 219

Chapter 219 Home Is Loud and Messy

Emily

I wake, tucked beneath Theo’s blankets with his arm heavy around my waist and his chest warm against my bark.

For a few quiet seconds, I just lie there and breathe him in, ting the soft morning light settle over the room.

My fingers drift to the mark on my neck. The skin is warm and tender to the touch; it feels like a quiet little heartbeat puising beneath my finge

Theo stirs behind me almost instantly, his arm tightening around me as he presses his face into my hair,

“Morning, Petal,” he murmurs, voice rough with sleep.

My heart gives a silly little flutter. “Morning.”

“You okay?”

I smile, because of course, that is the first thing he asks. “I’m okay.”

“Mark okay?”

“Yes.”

“Regrets?”

I roll carefully onto my back so I can see him. His hair is messy, his cheek is creased from the pillow, and his eyes are still heavy with sleep,

nothing careless about the way he waits for my answer,

“No regrets,” I whisper.

His whole body relaxes, and then his mouth curves. “Good.” He drops a soft kiss to my forehead, then pulls back just enough to look at me.

want to do today?”

The question is so simple that it catches me off guard. “I don’t know. What do you usually d in the mornings?”

Theo shrugs, but the smirk that follows tells me everything I need to know. “Normally, I go next door and get breakfast?

I stare at him. “You just invite yourself to breakfast over there?”

“Obviously.”

“Theo

“What?” He looks far ton pleased with himself “Mara makes the best breakfast food

Tegle and sell my eyes at him. “I want to do that then

We take turns showering, because if we go in there together, I do not think breakfast will happen any time soon. When I come back into his e

hair, Theo is already digging through his drawers.

He holds out a hoodie and a pair of track pants. “These should fit enough.”

I take them from him. “Enough?”

“You’re pocket-sized.”

I narrow my eyes, but take the clothes anyway. “Do you want your hoodie back?”

“No,” he says immediately. “Never. Keep it. Wear all my clothes. Ruin me.”

I roll my eyes again, but my stomach flutters as I get dressed. The hoodie is far too big, falling over my hands and almost swallowing me whole, bu smells like him, and when I turn around, Theo looks like he has forgotten how to breathe.

“What?” I ask.

He swallows before he runs a hand down his face and shakes his head with a goofy smile “My girl, my clothes, my mark, in my room

My cheeks heat.

“Is this going to make you weird all day?”

“Yes.”

I laugh at him. At least he’s honest.

He gathers our dirty clothes, then pauses near the bed. “Do you want to go over to the rehabilitation building later?” he asks. “Pack up your things arv

bring them here?”

I look at him, and the quiet joy in my chest stills for a moment.

His fingers tighten around the clothes. “Only if you want to. You don’t have to. I know it’s a lot.

“No,” I say softly. “I’d like that.”

His face lifts. “Yeah?”

I nod. “Someone else could use the room, and there’s no point trying to keep the space.”

Because I know I’m not going back to it. i don’t need a room waiting somewhere else, just in case i stop belonging here.

Theo’s smile comes slowly, soft and bright. “Okay,” he says. “We’ll do that

Downstairy, John takes one look at me in They’s clothes with his mark on me neck, then its both yah!

Takn bolds up his hands. “I said nothing.”

“Keep saying nothing.”

“I think I need more coffee.” His eyer soften when they move to me. “You sleep alright, sweetheart?”

“Really well, thank you.”

“Good. Now go steal breakfast from Mara before your mate starts chewing furniture.”

We walk next door through the cold morning air, snow crunching beneath our shoes. Theo keeps my hand tucked inside his pocket with bis, and

enjoy the simple warmth of it.

Blake’s house is already alive when we step inside.

Warm air rushes over me, carrying the smell of coffee, bacon, toast, and something sweet. Voices spilt from the kitchen, overlapping and loud, int

making me want to shrink back, the noise wraps around me.

“Oh, sweetheart,” Mara says, rounding the table and pulling me into the biggest hug. “How are you feeling?” she asks

“I’m good, really good.”

Her eyes flick to the mark on my neck, and her smile turns soft, “I can see that.”

I don’t even need to look at Theo to know he’s puffing his chest out behind me.

“Sit. I’ll make you tea.”

“I can help.”

“You can sit,” she says, already guiding me toward the table.

So I sit beside Theo, and John drops into a chair near Gareth and reaches for the coffee pot like he lives here too. Blake is slouched over a wag, still

asleep, while Charlotte sits beside him, and Charlie sits across from her, his green eyes narrowed.

“So let me get this straight,” he says. “You thought that after all of that happened, somehow one text saying. Long day, explain later. was fine?”

Charlotte winces, and Blake lifts his mug. “To be fair, it was a very long day

Charlie turns his glare on him. “You were meant to have my back.”

“I was busy keeping your sister alive.”
