Whispers of Destiny: His Belated Love novel Chapter 155

The Templeton Group.

Maxwell furrowed his brow at the sight of his new secretary, who seemed to be on the verge of saying something but holding back. “What’s up?”

He rarely even touched stuff like WhatsApp, always preferring a direct call over typing messages, and Twitter? Forget about it. So even though the social media platform was blowing up with chatter, he was clueless for the time being.

The secretary placed a tablet in front of him, highlighting two of Rosemary’s replies in a glaring red circle.

This was the kind of thing he couldn’t exactly put into words.

Maxwell quickly skimmed through the content, his gaze finally resting on the comment about male dysfunction and not fulfilling marital duties.

The secretary stood by, not daring to breathe too loudly. He couldn’t see Maxwell’s face, but he could feel the tension radiating off him like a chilly draft.

One minute…

Five minutes…

Ten minutes passed, and Maxwell hadn’t uttered a word, nor had he looked away from the tablet, even though the screen had long since dimmed.

The secretary couldn’t take the suspense any longer and, with a mixture of fear and trepidation, broke the silence, “Mr. Templeton, the PR department called. Should we address this?”

They had already tried to suppress the story, but the public's fascination with whether Mr. Templeton could rise to the occasion was off the charts, so the efforts hadn't made much of a dent. Ultimately, the ball was in Mr. Templeton's court.

Maxwell's lips curled into a smirk, but his eyes were cold as ice. “Suppress it and make it look like I’m protesting too much?”

The secretary blinked, his impulsive nature breaking through, “But we can’t exactly prove it without getting into hot water, right? Posting explicit videos is illegal.”

Maxwell snapped, “Get out!”

Rosemary had tossed her phone into her bag after firing off that tweet and had no idea the kind of buzz her words had stirred up.

After grabbing a bite downstairs and seeing her phone bombarded with messages and missed calls at checkout, she took a quick look and realized her Twitter had exploded.

Online, there were heated debates about whether Maxwell had it in him or not.

She picked Yolanda’s call from a list of missed ones and called her back.

Yolanda sounded thrilled, “Rosemary, that was so satisfying! Now let’s see how that sleazebag Maxwell can keep up his Mr. Righteous act. And Victoria, that little white lotus, is actually milking the situation for attention. Isn’t she worried about a backlash?”

Rosemary switched her phone to speaker and clicked on Victoria’s Twitter, checking out her latest statement.

It was a lengthy, emotional spiel spanning two pages, basically stating she wasn’t a homewrecker, had no part in breaking up Maxwell and Rosemary’s marriage, and as a friend, she wished nothing but happiness and harmony for them. She expressed regret over their divorce and even brought up how Maxwell was injured and hospitalized, and instead of caring for her husband, Rosemary was cozying up to his brother.

She didn’t go into details, but the vague nature of her statement was enough to pique people’s curiosity.

Comments were already speculating, with a few claiming they had relatives working in that hospital and were going to dig up some dirt.
