Who Exposed My Husband's Affair? The Super Bowl novel Chapter 26

Chapter 3

Callum dodged easily, pulling Ivy out of the way. He left the room and called over his shoulder to the guards onesie

My wife’s injured. Get the family doctor to bandage her up

He didn’t come back that night.

I didn’t care. I started packing.

Callum and I had known each other since we were kids,

Together since eighteen. Now twentyeight. A decade of photos, gifts, memories.

I burned it all,

Four days later, he finally came home.

Drunk. Ivy was holding him up.

I was sitting on the couch, watching TV.

Ivy smirked at me.

We were celebrating my passing the exam. He had a little too much to drink. Don’t be mad.

Who’s drunk?Callum slurred, pinning her against the wall I could drink ten more.

Ivy giggled, looking at me.

Don’t mind him. He always gets like this when he’s drunk-

I don’t mind.

I cut her off, stood up, and went upstairs.

That night, I heard them. Moaning. Laughing

I didn’t react.

Ivy even sent me a selfie. Her neck was covered in hickeys.

Don’t get the wrong ideahe thought I was you. He sucked so hard, these are gonna take days to fade.

I didn’t reply.

The next day, my best friend texted me.

You packed? I booked a 3 PM flight. I’ll pick you up soon.)

I texted back: [Ready.]

Then I went to grab the jade pendant my parents left methe one I kept in the safe for protection.

The safe was empty.

Panic hit me like a wave.

I ran downstairs.

Callum was in the kitchen, wearing an apron, cooking for Ivy.

She was lounging on the couch, legs crossed, watching TV.

Wearing my pendant.

I walked up to her, voice cold.

Give me my pendant back.

She frowned, clutching it.

This? My mentor gave it to me. It’s for good luck. I’m keeping it.

I let out a bitter laugh.

That’s from my parents. He has no right to give it to you.

Callum came over, looking guilty. Then defensive.

Ivy’s going to a training program next month. It’s far away, and I’m worried about her. I just lent it to her. I’ll give it back when she’s home.

Rage boiled over. I slapped him.

You know how much this means to me. I never even wore it myself. How dare you give it to her?

His expression darkened.

It’s just a pendant. Why are you being so petty? I said I’d give it back.

Before I could respond, Ivy started crying.

If it upsets you this much, fine. I don’t want it.

She took it off and held it out to me.

But just as I reached for itshe let go.

It hit the floor and shattered into pieces.

Ivy gasped, hand over her mouth.

Oops. You should’ve caught it. Not my fault it broke.

Her smug little face made me sick.

1 slapped her. Hard.

Callum immediately stepped in front of her.

Sloane, enough! You didn’t catch itthat’s why it broke. This has nothing to do with her. Apologize. Now.

I smiled. Cold. Dangerous.

Apologize? Sure. I’ll apologize.

1 grabbed the vase off the table and smashed it over Ivy’s head.

She screamed. Blood poured down her face.

Callum scrambled to stop the bleeding, wrapping her head in gauze.

I didn’t even look at them. I picked up the shattered pieces of the pendant and went upstairs to grab my suitcase.

Callum called after me.

Sloanewhere are you going?

I turned, emotionless, and threw the divorce papers in his face.

Somewhere you’re not.

We’re done, Callum. I don’t want you anymore.
