Chapter 7
My best friend opened a law firm in London.
Within months, she’d built a killer reputation–won case after case with her ruthless tactics, Business was booming
I helped out at the firm sometimes, but mostly, I focused on ray own thing
Before Callum, I studied design.
The year we got together, his career was taking off. I quit my job to support him–became a housewife so he could focus,
One night, I felt him shaking beside me in bed. I reached over, worried, and my hand came back wet with tears.
That’s when I realized–he felt guilty. He thought he’d held me back. That I’d sacrificed my career for him.
Back then, he really did feel bad for me. Back then, he really loved me.
So for years after that, he gave me everything. The best of everything
But feelings change. Especially after ten years.
Now that I’d left him, I was reclaiming my career.
It was too late to jump back into design full–time. But I could use my skills in other ways.
So I opened a boutique. Designed my own clothes.
I did tons of market research, figured out exactly what people wanted. Every piece I made was stylish and practical.
The response was incredible. My shop took off.
One day, I was packing up orders like usual when someone walked in.
I was too busy to look up. Just kept working.
Then a man’s voice–shaky, desperate–called out my name.
“Sloane… is that you? It’s really you”
1 froze. Turned around.
“Callum? What the hell are you doing here?”

“Sloane, I finally found you. Why have you been hiding from me? Do you have any idea how worried forebear
I frowned.
“We’re done. Why are you looking for me?”
“We’re not done. I didn’t sign the papers. I never will.”
His expression was dead serious.
“I know I messed up. I sold everything back home. I’m staying here. With you.”
I looked at him like he’d lost his mind.
“What makes you think I’d take back a man who cheated on me?
“If you won’t sign, I’ll take you to court. Get ready to be served.”
Pain flashed across his face.
“Are you really going to be this cold? I can explain what happened with Ivy.”
“We’ve been together for ten. Things got… stale. And Ivy kept throwing herself at me. I slipped up. But I never stopped loving you. That never changed.”
“Sloane, please don’t give up on us. I regret everything.”
He looked like a lost kid.
I laughed–cold and flat.
“People who screw up always regret it. But that’s your problem. You made your choices. Now deal with the consequences.”
“If I forgive you, then everything I went through was for nothing. My baby died for nothing.”
I called security and had him thrown out.
