Ivy hesitated.

“I just… posted it on my private account.”

Callum’s face went dark. He slapped her.

Hard.

“Who told you to post anything?!”

Tears streamed down her face.

“I… I just wanted to brag to my followers…”

Callum’s voice was ice–cold.

“You destroyed everything! Do you understand that?!”

Ivy sobbed.

“I’m sorry! I didn’t think anyone would see it! I didn’t mean for this to happen!”

“Mentor, you’re the best doctor here. The director loves you. Just ask him for help–he’ll fix this. Please!”

“If I lose this job, my parents will drag me back home and marry me off. I don’t want that. Please!”

But before Callum could respond, the director sighed.

“Even if I wanted to help, I can’t. The whole hospital knows. Thave to think about our reputation.”

“You’re both fired. Effective immediately. And you’re blacklisted from the industry.”

Ivy’s face went blank.

She dropped to her knees, begging.

“No–please! I can’t lose this job! I’ll do anything! Please!”

She turned to Callum, desperate.

“Say something! Help me!”

But the man who’d promised her the world just days ago looked at her with nothing but contempt

Ivy screamed after him.

But plenty of other doctors and nurses came by to watch.

They whispered. Pointed. Laughed.

“I knew she had a thing for Dr. Thorne. Always following him around like a puppy. Of course she was trying to steal

Ivy had always been popular at the hospital–pretty face, charming smile. She’d never been humiliated like this.

After leaving the hospital, Callum went straight to his tech–savvy friend and asked him to track me down.

His friend shook his head.

“She left the country. I can’t pinpoint her exact location.”

Callum’s chest tightened.

I’d really left. No hesitation. No looking back.

His phone rang.

It was his father.

The second he picked up, his dad’s voice exploded through the speaker.
