Who Exposed My Husband's Affair? The Super Bowl novel Chapter 34

Chapter 3

Not only did Holly not argue with Flynn, she barely gave a damnjust kept her eyes glued to my son.

I looked down, hiding the disgust on my face.

I used to think Holly had poured all her love into my son because she was devastated over losing her husband and baby.

Now that I knew the truth, their twisted behavior finally made sense.

I swallowed my disgust and got rid of them with a few quick words.

Then I went to the morgue.

Holly’s son was there, just like I’d suspected.

I examined him carefully.

No doubtthey’d drowned him with their own hands.

On the way back, I deliberately took a side hallwayand actually caught Flynn and Holly in a corner.

They were tangled together, deep kissing, making out like teenagers.

Holly was draped all over Flynn, panting.

Flynn, we finally got rid of that burden today. He was your sonyou’re not upset, are you?

Flynn looked into her eyes. No hesitation whatsoever.

Why would I be? I only claim the one you gave birth to. Mira’s kid? Just a trash.

Plus she’s useful. Smart as she is, she’ll raise our boy like a good little puppet.

And once we’re at Fort Bragg, nobody’ll bother us. Isn’t that what you’ve been waiting for?

Holly giggled and smacked his chest. Stop it, you’re awful~

I felt sick.

While they were distracted, I grabbed a loose brick from a windowsill, hurled it at them, and bolted.

Chapter 3

They screamed but didn’t dare make a scene. Just looked around frantically.

By the time they got their act together, I was already at the front desk.

I borrowed the phone and called my supervisor right then and there to request a transfer.

I’d been top of my class. After graduation, I married Flynn and gave up so many opportunities for him.

Even when my supervisor suggested I take a position at a university in Boston, I’d turned it down because I was

pregnant.

But not this time. I wouldn’t let them control me. Even with a baby, I was leaving.

After getting home from the hospital, the first thing I did was dig out the marriage certificate.

Flynn was a lieutenant colonel.

Somehow he’d forged a convincing fake, while secretly getting a real license with Holly at the County Clerk’s Office.

And I’d treasured that fake piece of paper for fifty years.

Thinking of it, I ripped it in half.

Fake was perfect. When I left in a month, I wouldn’t have to deal with a divorce.

I tucked the torn pieces into my drawer. Let them think they’d fooled me.

The next few weeks crawled by.

Holly and I were both recovering postpartum, but you’d never know we were in the same situation.

She spent her days lying in bed, doing nothing, while Flynn brought her everythingmeals, soup, even held the cup to her lips.

When things got too obvious, he’d try to cover by bringing me something.

Holly lost her baby. She’s heartbroken. I’m all she’s got.

I didn’t say a word.

I was up every night with the baby, doing everything myself.

He never once asked if I was okay.

Every time the baby cried at night, Flynn would get up, annoyed, say he needed sleep, and head straight to Holly’s

The next morning. Holly would cover her mouth and giggle.

Oh, Mira, you poor thing. Look at those dark circlesyou didn’t sleep at all, did you?

She was so sinog, so satisfied with herself.

But she didn’t notice the cold smile creeping onto my face.

To prepare for leaving, 1 quietly started packing. Flynn was too oblivious to notice.

Until one evening. He walked in holding an envelope, his face dark as a storm cloud.

Mira, what the hell is this?

The envelope was stamped with official letterheadmy transfer approval from the university.
