Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 104

Logan stared at her, his dark eyes unreadable.

Perhaps all women ultimately just wanted a safe, stable life.

It made sense. His profession was steeped in danger; not every woman was built to handle that reality.

He respected her boundaries.

They both turned their gaze back to the starry sky, the fiery passion from earlier entirely extinguished.

The next morning, the GFA staff distributed breakfast.

The meals were handed out based on the color of the wristbands.

Couples whose bands had turned red were treated to a lavish spread of steak and premium bacon.

Macy and Dan's bands were glowing red.

Aside from them, about a dozen other couples received the VIP breakfast.

Someone curiously asked the staff, "Why are their bands red?"

After all, several other couples had successfully consummated their marriages the night before too.

The staff simply offered a knowing, secretive smile.

While most didn't get steak and bacon, the majority still received a perfectly decent breakfast of sandwiches and cereal.

Sloane and Logan were stuck with plain toast and milk again.

Still, they weren't at the absolute bottom of the barrel. A few couples were handed nothing but a cheap cup of instant noodles—Lola and Lance being one of them.

Dan walked past, spotting Logan eating his dry toast. Feeling a sudden surge of superiority, he couldn't resist wandering over to gloat. "Buddy, just being fierce at video games isn't enough. Man, what can I even say to you? You just lack dedication. Let's be honest, you're both just terrified of a kid ruining your fun."

"You should really take a page out of my and Macy's book. We laid it all on the line last night."

Logan simply stared at him in silence.

As soon as Sloane and Logan boarded the bus back to the city, their phones flooded with notifications.

Sloane had several missed calls.
