Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 121

Even the usually chatty Meredith Chase deliberately avoided her gaze.

Sloane Sutton didn't think much of it at first and prepared to do her morning rounds.

Then, Dr. Lawrence Lowe called out to her. "Dr. Sutton..."

"What is it?" Sloane asked.

Dr. Lowe glanced around, as if checking to see who might be listening, before finally giving in. "Mayor Zachary Valerius was transferred to another hospital last night. You don't need to do rounds on him today."

"..." Sloane felt as though she had been struck hard across the face.

Transferred!

She didn't even need to ask whose idea it was.

He was in the ICU just yesterday morning, and by nightfall, he was relocated. Evelyn Vance was certainly frantic over Zachary.

Was Evelyn worried that she, her own daughter, wouldn't treat him properly?

With Zachary transferred, Sloane had no rounds left to do. He had been the only patient assigned to her recently.

After sitting idle all morning, she had absolutely nothing to do.

As her shift neared its end, she sought out Director Thomas Thorne.

"Director Thorne, I currently don't have any patients assigned to me. Should I head over to the outpatient clinic, or what's the plan?"

Director Thorne glanced up at her.

His eyes darted around briefly before he cleared his throat. "Well... why don't you just head home for now? I don't have any other arrangements for you at the moment."

Sloane understood perfectly. This was still about Tristan York.

Because Miles Valerius refused to go to the police station and settle privately, they were blaming the entire mess on her.

Sloane returned to her office.

This wasn't her first encounter with workplace bullying.

She firmly believed that as long as she proved her competence, all of this would pass.

At noon, her smart wristband buzzed with a notification.

[Global Fertility Association: Dear Sloane Sutton, according to our monitoring, your husband, Mr. Logan Lennox, has experienced an accelerated heart rate ten times since last night until this morning. This, undoubtedly, is love! He is longing for you, completely captivated by your charm. If you miss him too, use your lunch break to give him a call or send a message saying, 'I love you!']

Sloane couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corners of her lips.

Even if the whole world abandoned her, she at least still had Logan.
