Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 125

Sloane didn't turn her phone back on until just before her shift started the next morning.

The screen lit up with several missed call notifications from Logan.

They were all clustered between seven and eight o'clock the previous night.

After that, he hadn't tried calling again.

It seemed he had given up.

She pulled herself together and headed to work.

Even though she still had no patients assigned, the hospital hadn't officially fired her yet, and she wasn't ready to hand in her resignation.

The hotel was far too close to the hospital. Walking into the building felt like stepping back into a bleak, suffocating abyss.

Barely a moment after she sat down in her office, Director Thorne walked in. "Sloane, go to Director Arthur York's office."

"Understood."

She knew nothing good could come from a visit to the hospital director, but whatever it was, she had to face it.

Sloane was even fully prepared to be politely asked to resign.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door.

Director York was at his desk organizing files. He didn't even bother to look up.

Clearly, he was trying to put her in her place.

Unbothered, Sloane walked over to the sofa and sat down.

If she could sit, there was no way she was going to stand.

Director York shuffled his papers for quite a while, deliberately ignoring her.

Sloane pulled out her phone and started playing a matching game.

When Director York finally looked up and saw her happily tapping away on her phone, a wave of fury rushed to his head.

Did she not realize her career was hanging by a thread?

"Sloane, get over here!"

Hearing her name, Sloane casually pocketed her phone and walked over to his desk.

Director York slid a piece of paper toward her. "Read this."
