By the time Logan and Zoe rushed back to the scene, Shane was writhing on the ground, clutching his groin and howling in agony.

Zoe pointed a shaking finger at him. "That's him! He's the one who ambushed us!"

Logan reached down, grabbed Shane by the collar, and hauled him off the dirt. "Where's the other doctor?"

Shane was in too much excruciating pain to speak.

Shane panicked, groaning out, "She ran! That crazy bitch... she kicked me right in the balls and bolted."

Zoe desperately asked, "Which way did she go?"

With Shane's bike blocking the main road, Sloane had been forced to take the alley to escape.

Zoe peered down the dark, narrow path. There was no sign of Sloane. She figured Sloane must have sprinted all the way back to the hospital.

Logan glared at the thug in his grip. "Why did you attack them?"

Staring into Logan's terrifying, predatory gaze, Shane didn't dare lie. He stammered, "I heard that bitch... I mean, that female doctor, cracked a fisherman's skull open. I was just trying to get some justice for him. Hoping to get a little compensation payout."

Zoe was furious. "Liar! Our doctors would never do such a thing. It's nothing but malicious rumors started by you locals."

Logan tightened his grip on Shane's collar, nearly choking him. "You can explain the 'truth' to the police down at the Island Security Command."

He then turned his sharp, commanding gaze to Zoe. "Go back and inform your director. And bring the doctor who was attacked here to the station as well!"

Struck by Logan's overpowering aura, his intense eyes, and his ruthless authority, Zoe found herself responding like a fresh recruit to a general. "Yes, sir. Right away."
