Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 181

Sloane Sutton even chatted casually with Logan Lennox just like old times. "Did the drill go smoothly?"

"Very smoothly!" Unable to guess what was on her mind, Logan asked, "How have things been at home? Does your chest still hurt?"

"Much better."

Sloane smiled and added, "Director Sarah Miller took great care of me, and Dustin dropped off supplies all the time."

Logan nodded. "You should take in more calcium and get plenty of sunlight while you recover."

"I will. You've worked hard at the base, so you should make sure to get some proper rest too."

"I know." Logan was still entirely bewildered.

Why was this woman so unpredictable?

Just days ago, she had given him the cold shoulder, and now she was acting as if nothing had ever happened, completely reverting to how they used to be at Valentine Towers.

Logan headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

Every time he went on a drill, he couldn't shower for days, leaving him smelling utterly awful.

After washing up, he hung his laundry to dry. Checking the time, he saw it was already nine in the evening.

He walked over and asked Sloane, "Do you need me to help with anything else?"

Sloane thought for a moment. "Sarah took such good care of me lately. She brought meals, did my laundry, and helped me bathe. I can manage everything else on my own now, so I don't need any help for the time being."

"That's good," Logan said. "I'll go sleep on the living room sofa tonight. You should go to bed early."

He was certain she still wouldn't want to share a bed with him.

But Sloane called out to him, "Logan, you should sleep in the bedroom. That wooden sofa in the living room is too uncomfortable."

"Back in bed?" Logan was even more astonished.

He stepped closer, scanning her from head to toe before gently tilting her chin up to look into her eyes.

"Did Sarah say something to you?" he asked. "Sloane, you should follow your own heart. Don't let her words sway you. Even though this is a military base, we don't force anyone into anything against their will."
