Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 52

"Yes, but you told me you already ate."

Sloane unwrapped the cake and took out the complimentary paper plates and forks.

Logan replied, "I ate last night, but I haven't had breakfast today. Can I share it with you now?"

"Of course." Sloane still couldn't quite figure him out.

He didn't want to eat it last night, but now he did?

She couldn't finish a whole cake anyway, so she sliced off a third for herself and pushed the remaining two-thirds toward Logan.

"Thanks." Logan dug in without hesitation, devouring it as if it were a culinary masterpiece.

Sloane took small, polite bites.

She was just about to ask Logan what his plans were for the day when she noticed him staring intently at her lips.

Sloane's chest tightened.

Did he want to kiss her?

But the smartband hadn't issued any new mandates.

Instead, he grabbed a napkin from the table and reached toward her. "Don't move. You've got frosting on your lip. Let me get it."

Sloane was speechless.

"I can do it myself?" Sloane wasn't used to people wiping her mouth.

"We've already kissed. Don't be shy," Logan teased smoothly.

Her cheeks burned, and she forced herself to stay perfectly still.

His large hand gently wiped the frosting from the corner of her mouth. As he did, he asked, "Do you have any plans for today?"

"No. You?"

"My boss gave me two tickets to The Labyrinth. Do you want to go?"

An escape room?

Sloane had never been to one.

But Meredith Chase had raved about how fun it was.

Many of the doctors at their hospital had gone together.

With the help of high-end technology, the horror setups and fake corpses were incredibly realistic.

"When are the tickets for?" Sloane asked.

"Tonight."

"Sure."
