"I'm looking for my granddaughter-in-law, Sloane," Madam Beatrice said, frowning. "It's so strange. She was standing right here just a minute ago."
"Maybe she already left. Logan took off, too."
"He left again?"
"He said there was a critical mission at the base. They recalled him immediately."
Madam Beatrice stamped her foot in frustration. "What kind of ridiculous organization is that? They hound my grandson to meet his fertility quota, but they constantly drag him away on life-threatening missions!"
Zane quickly hushed her. "Grandma, keep your voice down. You can't just call the military a 'ridiculous organization.'"
"Fine, fine, I know," she grumbled, clearly annoyed.
She then turned to Zane. "Did Sloane know Logan was leaving for a mission?"
"She should. Logan said he told her."
"Good." Madam Beatrice paused. "Did he tell her that I'm his grandmother?"
Zane shook his head. "Probably not. He was planning to tell her tonight, but the mission came up out of nowhere."
Madam Beatrice sighed. "Forget it. There's no rush. We'll wait until Logan gets back."
Not far away.
Serena nudged Lily. "Who is that old lady? Why is everyone acting so terrified of her?"
Lily stared at Serena in shock. "You seriously don't know who she is?"
"No idea."
"That's Madam Beatrice Lennox! She's an absolute titan in the business world. She married into the Lennox family young but was widowed early. Not only did she raise her two sons single-handedly, but she also built the Lennox Group into an industry empire. Tragically, she lost her favorite son when she was middle-aged."
Serena looked puzzled. "She had two sons. Why would she only favor one?"
