Sloane stared at the beautifully cooked steak, the rich juices pooling perfectly on her plate.
In that moment, she realized she shouldn't obsess over uncovering his secret identity.
She would just treat it as his little mystery.
As long as they lived together peacefully, that was enough.
Besides, their marriage was ultimately just to satisfy the GFA's mandates.
She took a bite of the tender beef and offered him a genuine smile. "This is incredible."
"Eat up, then. I made a side of roasted asparagus and a crisp salad. Gotta balance out the meat."
"Perfect."
Halfway through dinner, a knock echoed from the door. It was the GFA's automated courier drone.
Sloane got up to answer it.
"Good evening. Please accept your official invitations."
The drone extended a mechanical arm, handing over two crisp envelopes.
Sloane took them, her eyes scanning the bold lettering: *The Couples' Forum — Valentine Towers Edition.*
"The Couples' Forum?" Sloane asked the drone, raising an eyebrow.
"Attendance will provide clarity."
"Is it mandatory?"
The drone's screen flashed a smiley face. "There's free catered food, gourmet desserts, and community mingling. Why wouldn't you want to go?"
Sloane walked back to the table and slid the invitation toward Logan. "It's a mandatory community event run by the GFA."
Logan chuckled. "Perfect timing. I'm off tomorrow anyway. Let's go together."
Right after they finished eating, their biometric bracelets vibrated in unison with a new task: *[It's been a while since you two shared a kiss! We're guessing the romance is getting a little rusty. Time to re-ignite that spark before it burns out completely!]*
Logan casually took a swig from his water bottle, swishing it around as an impromptu rinse.
Sloane slowly took a sip from her own glass, stalling for time.
She had always treated the GFA's intimacy tasks with strict professionalism.
Knowing Sloane was a stickler for hygiene, Logan offered, "How about I go brush my teeth first? I was just cooking, so I probably smell like smoke and garlic."
Sloane thought about it. "Sure. The dishes aren't done yet anyway, so I'll tackle those while you wash up."
