Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 206

He made sure to emphasize that she had nearly been dragged away by those men.

Before Mrs. Hughes could react, Mrs. Gonzalez shrieked, "What? What is going on?"

The officer asked for her identity. Upon learning she was Naomi's mother, his expression turned slightly quizzical. "Your daughter went through something so serious last night, and you had no idea?"

Mrs. Gonzalez was about to say that Naomi hadn't told them anything, but then she realized Naomi had told them.

She just hadn't been very detailed, and Mrs. Gonzalez had ignored the details she did provide.

As a mother, it seemed she had completely and utterly neglected her daughter.

"I..." Mrs. Gonzalez was at a loss for words.

Naomi pretended not to see the guilty look in her mother's eyes.

It was too late for guilt now.

"But what does this have to do with Zebulon?"

Mrs. Hughes said with a frown, "Zebulon is still a patient here. This has nothing to do with him. Are you sure you have the right person?"

The officer's gaze fell on Zebulon, his face serious. "According to eyewitnesses and security footage, while Ms. Gonzalez was surrounded, this gentleman escorted the person who was slandering her away from the scene."

"And according to our investigation, that young lady is the one who spread the rumors and hired assailants to attack Ms. Gonzalez. Therefore, we need to bring Mr. Zebulon in for questioning."

"What?"

Three gasps echoed in the room.

Zebulon was the first to react, rushing to the officer. "Slander and hired assailants? Are you saying Tiffany did all this?"

Before the officer could answer, Mrs. Gonzalez lunged forward, her voice piercing. "Someone hired people to hurt my daughter?"

She was furious with herself for being so neglectful of her son lately, allowing him to do something so idiotic.

If Zebulon had really saved the person who hurt Naomi, the Hughes family would never be able to hold their heads high in front of the Gonzalezes again.

"I'll go with you."

Zebulon clenched his jaw. He instinctively looked at Naomi, but she avoided his gaze.

In that moment, Zebulon felt true regret.

He had thought it was a trivial matter, but he never imagined it would escalate like this.

After Zebulon was taken away, Mrs. Hughes immediately rushed to Naomi's side.

"Naomi, what on earth is going on?"
