Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 207

Naomi calmly recounted the entire story of what had happened the previous night.

She didn't embellish or add any details, simply stating the facts.

But to her listeners, this is like a bolt from the blue!

"Zebulon did something so foolish? That Tiffany, is she the woman he’s into?"

Even though Mrs. Gonzalez had been biased towards Zebulon before, she couldn't defend him now.

Her own daughter had suffered such an ordeal; her heart was filled with a burning rage.

"The boy... he must not have known..."

Seeing Mrs. Hughes' awkward expression, Mrs. Gonzalez's anger subsided slightly.

"You don't need to stay here with us. Go to the police station and check on Zebulon. I'm going to take Naomi home."

Mrs. Hughes knew the Gonzalezes must be upset. She had no energy to mend fences; her mind was already with her son. Mrs. Gonzalez's words were a relief.

"Then I'll go deal with Zebulon's situation first. Naomi, don't worry. If this is Zebulon's fault, I'll drag him here to apologize to you personally. That boy won't get away with it."

"You just wait."

Mrs. Hughes said a few more words and left.

Mrs. Gonzalez looked at her daughter, who still had that same detached expression, and sighed. "Naomi, let's go home."

Naomi nodded.

Mrs. Gonzalez reached for her daughter's hand, but Naomi pulled away.

A flicker of hurt appeared in Mrs. Gonzalez's eyes.

But thinking of how helpless her daughter must have been last night while her parents were nowhere to be found, she couldn't bring herself to say anything critical.

She was filled with regret, especially when she remembered how she had been defending Zebulon earlier.

After returning to the Gonzalez residence, Naomi sat in the living room, waiting for the final outcome.

"I'm sorry, Naomi. I really didn't see you... and Tiffany kept saying her stomach hurt, so I just thought..."

"Naomi, hit me, yell at me, do whatever you want, but please don't be angry. I've already arranged for Tiffany to transfer schools. We'll never see each other again. Naomi, can you forgive me? I promise I'll never make a mistake like this again."

"Naomi, we've already disciplined this boy. He was completely out of line this time. Don't worry, if you want to sue, we will back you up. That Tiffany slandered you. If you want justice, we'll get you justice."

"If that's not enough to make you feel better, we have other ways..."

"Naomi, Zebulon's mistake was unintentional. Please don't hold it against him."

They claimed they were there to apologize, but in reality, they were just shifting the blame.

It seemed like Zebulon had nothing to do with it, but if he hadn't been involved with Tiffany in the first place, why would Tiffany have targeted her?

Did these people think they could just cover it all up like this?

Naomi didn't answer. Instead, she looked at her parents.
