Zebulon roared, "You're talking nonsense! There's no way Naomi would actually cut ties with me!"
Jonathan poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue, feeling the sting. He scoffed. "What else did you expect? Zebulon, you seem to have forgotten, Naomi isn't some stray dog. She's the heiress to the Gonzalez family."
Zebulon froze.
Jonathan, who had long grown tired of Zebulon's melodrama, let all his thoughts spill out. "We told you before, if you felt you couldn't let her go, you should have swallowed your pride and apologized properly. Naomi was always so good to you; she wouldn't have stayed mad."
"But you had to be stubborn. You waited until she'd grown cold to try and win her back. And even then, if you'd done it right, it might have worked. But you tell Naomi you'll treat her well while still getting tangled up with Tiffany. Zebulon, did you even watch that video?"
"Is your heart made of stone? Naomi was so scared she almost passed out. And the cuts on her wrist... her whole arm was covered in blood. Are you blind?"
"Did you think that just because she liked you, you could trample all over her feelings?" Jonathan grew angrier as he spoke. "You think the world revolves around you? If you don't cherish her, someone else will."
"You've just lost your chance."
"I think you two should just go your separate ways. Stop this drama before you ruin things for everyone."
With that, Jonathan wiped his face and walked out.
Carter watched him go, then patted Zebulon's shoulder. "I honestly don't get why you're helping Tiffany," he said grimly. "Even if Naomi wasn't your girlfriend, she's still one of us. We could understand you embarrassing Naomi to make Tiffany happy before, since Naomi herself was willing to go along with it. It's not our place to interfere in that kind of thing."
"But what are you doing now? You stood by and watched someone from outside our circle bully one of our own, and then you helped her enemy..."
"Zebulon, I barely recognize you anymore."
Carter sighed and left as well.
Zebulon remained alone in the empty room. The food they had ordered had been served, but it sat untouched.
