Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 242

His gaze made Naomi a little self-conscious; she thought he might feel she was overstepping.

Just as she was about to explain, she heard Lennon say, “His own parents probably don't care about him as much as you do.”

Naomi froze.

She glanced instinctively at Ronald and noticed he looked much thinner than the last time she'd seen him.

Connecting that with what Lennon had just said, her heart filled with sorrow.

Ronald was just a child who didn't understand all the complicated adult dynamics.

All he wanted was for his parents to be there for him, never imagining even that would be denied.

Kids from wealthy families really do have to sacrifice so much.

“So... once we set a time, we'll go together?”

Lennon didn't refuse.

Naomi had assumed that since this was to help Ronald, Lennon would be more than willing.

But he seemed so reluctant.

This irked Naomi a little.

But she quickly found a reason to convince herself otherwise.

A person like Lennon wasn't fond of dealing with people to begin with.

Now he had to pretend to be a married couple with her. It must be a difficult situation for him.

It seemed they needed to get this over with quickly.

Thinking this, Naomi cleared her throat. “Well... I should get going now?”

Staying here felt awkward, and she was starting to feel embarrassed.

“Okay.”

“I'll have someone drive you back to campus.”

Naomi recognized the man's voice as Zebulon's and her face filled with disgust.

She tried to walk around him and leave, but he grabbed her by the wrist.

“Naomi, I really know I was wrong. Can you please forgive me one more time?”

A flash of impatience crossed Naomi's face, her voice cold. “Do you really have to do this?”

“We both know what you did. Do you want me to announce it to everyone here?”

Zebulon couldn't stand her cold words, and a flicker of shame and anger appeared in his eyes, but he refused to move.

“I really am sorry. I was drunk and didn't know what was happening. I thought she was you...”

This classic scumbag line left the surrounding crowd speechless.

They'd thought it was some romantic scene, but hearing this, someone in the crowd spoke up. “Are you serious, dude? You cheated and now you're asking the girl to forgive you?”

“You've got some nerve.”
