Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 243

This was, without a doubt, the most humiliating day of Zebulon's entire twenty-something years of life.

Naomi thought that after being publicly called out like that, Zebulon's pride would force him to leave. But he remained rooted to the spot as if his feet were glued to the ground, stubbornly refusing to move.

He looked as if he would continue kneeling there all day if Naomi didn't agree.

Naomi had no desire to get tangled up with Zebulon any longer and tossed out coldly, “If you want to kneel, then keep kneeling.”

Without another glance at him, she strode away.

Zebulon instinctively tried to get up and follow, but having been pampered his whole life, his legs were sore from kneeling for so long. He took a few steps, grimaced in pain, and stopped. “Naomi!”

He yelled her name. “Get back here!”

Zebulon couldn't believe Naomi would actually just leave him there. Even as the crowd dispersed with mocking smirks, he stubbornly stood his ground.

He didn't understand. He had made such a huge sacrifice to win her back, so why was she still so determined to leave him?

Didn't Naomi used to love it when he took the initiative?

Even a single word from him would make her happy for days. Why had things changed so much?

“Zebulon...”

A soft body bumped into his arms. Zebulon instinctively held her close. “Naomi...”

The body in his arms stiffened.

Zebulon realized something was wrong. He looked down and saw Tiffany, her eyes welling with tears, gazing at him with an expression of unspoken words.

“Zebulon, I was worried about you, so I followed...”

Zebulon shoved Tiffany away, his demeanor almost neurotic. “You were here the whole time?”

“Did Naomi see you? Is that why she ignored me?”

“That must be it!”

Zebulon grew more agitated as he spoke. “Didn't I tell you to stay away from me for now? Why did you have to show up?”

Tiffany watched Zebulon's retreating back. Though her eyes were still red, there was no trace of sadness, only ambition and fury.

She glanced at her bank account balance.

Zebulon had given her a large sum of money to make up for things, and she was reluctant to spend it. But to secure a better position for herself, she had to take a risk.

You have to spend money to make money.

“I need a private investigator to look into someone for me...” Tiffany found a detective agency and stated her request.

The private investigator contacted her shortly after. Tiffany gave him the details, then hung up the phone with a triumphant smile.

Zebulon was just acting out of wounded pride.

As long as she could produce evidence of Naomi betraying him, Zebulon would have no choice but to let go.

And Naomi could forget about ever marrying into the Hughes family.
