Everyone would find out the truth sooner or later, anyway.
This time, she was truly determined to stop following Zebulon around.
The news that Naomi had come to school alone spread like wildfire.
It was the first day back, and the college students, full of energy, were gathered in groups, chatting endlessly about everything from their winter break to the latest gossip.
Eventually, the news made its way to Zebulon.
“She really came by herself?”
Zebulon found it hard to believe. The place where he had left Naomi was not easy to get a cab from. He had calculated that she would have no choice but to call him for help.
So, even though he had stormed off in a rage, he hadn't gone straight to school. He was still worried about her.
He had figured that as soon as she gave in, he could go back and pick her up.
But he never expected that Naomi would manage to leave on her own.
Impossible. Absolutely impossible!
Unless Naomi had suddenly grown wings and flown away!
“Not alone. She got a ride from someone else.”
At these words, Zebulon’s face turned grim. Who was this idiot who had dared to ruin his plan?
“Who?”
“We don’t know!”
“Zebulon, I’m so happy you came to pick me up!”
Zebulon was still on the phone, and his friends on the other end heard Tiffany’s words and erupted in laughter and jeers.
“So you were in a rush to pick up Tiffany! You kept that quiet, not a single word about it before!”
Zebulon felt like he had regained the upper hand. He snorted and coolly said, “See you at school. Later,” before hanging up.
Tiffany was still chattering away like a bird, telling him how much she had missed him.
Zebulon frowned but didn’t interrupt her, instead just turning up the volume of the car stereo.
The flashy sports car pulled up right in front of the girls’ dormitory. Tiffany got out, holding her head high like a proud peacock. Zebulon got out too, and the crowd of students gasped.
“Are Zebulon and Tiffany dating?”
