Wife You Discarded is a Billionaire's Crush novel Chapter 163

Cedric wanted to cheer her up?

The words were so foreign, so unbelievable, that they sounded fake from the start.

Liliana's refusal was swift and direct: [Please pass on my thanks, but dinner won't be necessary. I don't need him to cheer me up.]

The most she could manage with Cedric was to coexist peacefully in that house.

Beyond that, she had no desire to put on a hypocritical act, pretending as if none of the unpleasantness existed.

"What's wrong?" Douglas noticed her staring at her phone, lost in thought, and moved closer.

He shielded her from the noisy crowd, placing a hand on the wall behind her to keep her in a safe space.

"It's nothing. Let's keep going," Liliana said, putting her phone away. "This place is pretty big. Let's finish up, and I'll treat you to lunch."

Douglas smiled and led her toward the left wing. "Don't worry, I won't fight you for the bill today. I'll give you a chance to treat me."

Liliana couldn't help but smile. "If you try to pay again today, I'll stop accepting any favors from you and Junie from now on."

The two exchanged a few lighthearted words and moved on to another exhibition hall.

Zephyr Group.

Beads of cold sweat formed on Timothy's forehead. He didn't dare relay Liliana's message.

He placed his phone in front of Cedric, letting him see for himself.

Who would dare to refuse Cedric?

Especially when Liliana's words were laced with barbs, implying that Cedric was being insincere.

The moment Cedric read their conversation, a dead silence fell over the vast office.

It was early winter, before the heating was turned on, and the already cool office temperature seemed to plummet.

The chill was so intense that Timothy felt the sweat on his skin turn to frost, sending a shiver through his entire body.

"What does she mean by that?" Cedric suddenly let out a humorless laugh, pushing the phone back toward Timothy. "Is she ungrateful?"

"Maybe… Mrs. Forrest is just in a bad mood, so her choice of words was poor!"

Timothy offered a weak excuse.

Cedric remained silent, picking up a pen to sign.

"What's wrong?" Sylvia asked Timothy, who was standing beside them.

Timothy gave a wry smile and said succinctly, "Nothing major. Mr. Forrest invited Mrs. Forrest to dinner, and she refused."

"Oh, Designer Preston is at the design exhibition. She must have turned you down because she was busy, right?"

Sylvia's eyes curved as she smiled, her tone understanding and considerate.

Cedric's hand paused mid-signature. He looked up at her and asked, "What design exhibition?"

"There's a major domestic design exhibition in the suburbs today. A friend of mine went and sent me some pictures of beautiful designs, since she knows I'm planning to renovate. She happened to capture Designer Preston in a few of them."

Sylvia took out her phone, pulled up a few photos, and showed them to Cedric.

On the screen, Liliana and Douglas were standing close, their shoulders almost touching.

Amidst the bustling crowd, the two of them looked like a perfect match. Liliana, small and delicate, stood pressed against Douglas's side.

Douglas was leaning down slightly, pointing at something and murmuring to her.
