Wife You Discarded is a Billionaire's Crush novel Chapter 164

"Is that so?" Cedric bit out each word through clenched teeth. "Funny, I think she and Douglas look quite compatible too!"

Cold sweat trickled down Timothy's back as he quickly tried to signal Sylvia with his eyes.

He thought that since Sylvia was close to Cedric, both professionally and personally, she might be able to calm him down.

Unexpectedly, Sylvia added fuel to the fire with a teasing tone. "Are you getting jealous? Does this mean Designer Preston went to the exhibition with Douglas without telling you?"

Cedric's expression darkened even further.

"Vice President Woods…" Timothy had to whisper, "Please stop."

"What's the big deal?" Sylvia acted as if it were perfectly normal. "They're looking at an exhibition together, clearly for work. It's not like it's a private date. Haven't I had to dine with male clients on weekends many times…"

Cedric's gaze snapped toward her.

The look in his eyes made her feel as if something was caught in her throat, rendering her speechless.

She heard Cedric say without a hint of hesitation, "Know your place. She's not the same as you."

Sylvia was working. And even if she wasn't, she was single. What did it matter if she had dinner with a man, or even slept with him?

But Liliana was different.

She was his wife. She carried the name Mrs. Forrest.

"Vice President Woods, if you're done with the signature and have nothing else, please head out. I still have work to report to Mr. Forrest!"

Seeing that Sylvia was only making things worse, Timothy quickly tried to get her to leave.

Sylvia felt as if her blood had frozen, her entire body numb.

But she had to force herself to act normal. "Well then, I'll get back to my work."

She turned and walked out of the office, her chest filled with a suffocating jealousy.

She and Liliana… were different after all!?

How were they different?

It was only because Liliana had used some trick to marry him!

And she was in no way inferior to Liliana!

Still, the fact that Cedric was bothered by Liliana and Douglas was a good thing for her.

The photo had been taken by someone she had hired to tail Liliana.

She couldn't send it from an anonymous number again, like last time.

Maybe Cedric wouldn't investigate a single anonymous message, but if he kept receiving them, he would become suspicious.

Liliana didn't go home. After parting with Douglas, she found a coffee shop to settle into.

She organized all the ideas that had come to her from the exhibition, jotting them down in her notebook.

She and Douglas had gone through all of the dozens of exhibits.

By the time she finished organizing her thoughts, it was already dark.

Only then did she leave the coffee shop and drive home.

At seven-thirty, the night was quiet and a cold wind was blowing.

Just as she parked the car, her phone pinged.

It was a message from Douglas.

[Liliana, the world can be fair. Don't give up. I will always support you.]

There was no flowery language, just a few simple sentences, but they felt like a warm current flowing into Liliana's heart.

The car's interior light was on, illuminating the clear smile that spread across her face.

This scene was perfectly captured in the eyes of the man standing by the floor-to-ceiling window inside the villa.
