Chapter 29
Without Lucian’s support, my legs gave way, and I almost fell.
Regaining my balance, I saw Jace was no match for Lucian. I stumbled towards them, trying to stop Lucian from hitting him again.
Lucian looked down at me, his voice like ice. “Step aside!”
I didn’t move. My support of Jace only made Lucian’s eyes colder.
Without a word, he grabbed my arm, pulling me aside forcefully.
As he looked towards Jace, a gust of wind blew…
Bang! The guest room door slammed shut.
Lucian didn’t notice anything unusual. He strode towards Jace.
Jace, suppressing the pain in his chest, stood up, his expression as cold as Lucian’s. Then he saw me thrown to the floor, unable to regain my balance.
His eyes widened.
“Seren.” Jace rushed to help me. Before he reached me, Lucian grabbed his outstretched hand and kicked his shin.
Jace cried out in pain, his knee buckling. Lucian bent Jace’s hand back.
If he continued, Jace’s hand would be broken.
“Lucian, stop!” I was so anxious, I scrambled to my feet. Before he could act, I grabbed his arm, crying, “Don’t hurt Jace’s hand. You can never hurt his hands! They are important to him!”
Looking at my worried face, Lucian sneered, “Jace’s hands are important. What about Ayla’s?”
That explained it. I finally understood why Lucian was here. He still believed I’d intentionally burned Ayla’s hands, and he was seeking revenge for her.
I decided to compromise. As long as he could leave me, it did matter that I admitted a mistake that I had never
made.
“Sorry, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have hurt Ayla. Please let go of Jace, and I’ll apologize to her.”
“Seren, why are you taking the blame for something you didn’t do? I won’t let you apologize to that bitch.”
Jace always unconditionally trusted me. Even without knowing the details.
“Lucian, if you have the guts, break my hand…”
“Shut up!” I interrupted Jace, tears in my eyes.
I knew better than anyone how important Jace’s hands were.
He was planning to be in the pack’s bicycle’s race next year. His dream was to win a championship. It had always been his dream. He’d worked hard for years, for so many years.
Jace wanted to say more, but my gaze stopped him.
