Stella shook her head. “I sometimes go with Tess to relax, but I never order anything. I just look. I never touch anyone.”
Tess, I’ll give you a raise for covering for me.
But she really hadn’t touched anyone else. Except for Elias, her first thought about other men was always what condition they had and what medicine they needed to adjust.
She looked so innocent and well–behaved that Elias felt guilty immediately.
He hated himself for being so petty and letting jealousy get the better of him.
“What’s wrong?”
Elias kissed her softly, taking her breath away.
What’s wrong with me? Stella is always so busy; she has no time for places like that.
When they reached Moore Manor, Elias hated to leave.
“Are you sure you won’t come in with me?”
He shook his head. Her safety was the top priority right now. He had to go back and investigate the other party thoroughly, make full preparations, and never let her get hurt.
“Stay with Mr. Moore.”
“Okay.”
Stella kissed his cheek and smiled. “Drive safely.”
They waved goodbye. Elias didn’t drive away until her figure disappeared completely.
“Dad.”
At the sound of her voice, Jasper came out beaming, wearing an apron and holding a spatula. “Stella, you’re home.”
“Yeah.”
She handed her bag to Lily and rushed toward the kitchen. “Dad, what are you making? It smells amazing.”
“All your favorite dishes.”

Jasper looked at her with fond affection. “Go wash your hands; dinner’s ready.”
“Okay.”
Jasper always cooked for her himself whenever she was home.
“Dad, your cooking keeps getting better and better.”
Stella gave him a thumbs–up as she ate.
“I want to ask for an extra day off each month just to come home and eat your food.”
“I’ll bring you meals every day if you like.”
“No, it’s too hard on you.”

He went to his wife’s grave every morning to talk to her. He prayed at the church, hoping to meet her again in the next life, and he still had to handle his work.
Bringing her meals every day would exhaust him.
“It’s not hard at all.”
“Dad, don’t take Elias‘ job, or he’ll forget he has a fiancée like me.”
Jasper smiled gently.
Something crossed Stella’s mind, and her frown deepened.
“Dad, was Grandma’s last name Corbin?”
Jasper froze and looked at her in confusion. “Why are you asking about this?”
“Do you know the reclusive Corbin medical clan–wait, no, the Corbin family?”
At her words, Jasper’s face changed drastically.
“Stella, did something happen to you?”
Stella shook her head. “Nothing serious. They tried to force me to go with them, but I got away.”
She spoke as casually as if commenting on the day’s weather.
“What?”
Jasper looked utterly worried and stood up quickly. “Are you hurt? When did this happen? Why

didn’t you tell me?”
“Dad, calm down. I’m completely fine.”
Stella patted his hand softly to soothe him.
“Are you sure they’re from the Corbin family?”

Stella nodded slightly. “From the information we have so far, they’re definitely the Corbins.”
Jasper frowned tightly. “Why would they come for you?”
She shook her head. “I don’t know.
“Dad, do you know them?”
“I don’t.” Jasper paused. “What were you suspicious about just now?”
“It just occurred to me that Grandma’s last name was Corbin. Could there be a connection between us?”
“Your grandmother’s name was Vivian Corbin. But I never met her family. I was told they’d all passed away when I was little.”
“Dad, do you still have Grandma’s photos?”
“Yes.”
“I want to see them.”
“Wait here.”
Jasper hurried upstairs to look for the photos, and Stella followed him up.
He flipped through several photo albums, most filled with pictures of Nicole and their family trips.
Stella’s heart ached at the sight of her mother’s bright smile. She pushed down her grief and helped him search.
