During this time, they confirmed Nadia was indeed the Moore family’s long–lost eldest daughter–the real Amber, who’d been thought to have died in childhood.

When Stella took a break, Elias was there as always, holding a bouquet of white tulips and leaning against his black Maybach, waiting for her.
The moment they saw each other, they smiled, hurried toward one another, and hugged tightly.
In that instant, even the air around them seemed to turn sweet.
“Stella, it feels like forever since we last met.” Elias said.
Stella looked surprised. “We saw each other last week.”
“Still feels like too long.”
Stella smiled softly. “My Elias is missing me, huh?”
“I am.”
“Would
you
admit that in front of Cross Group’s executives?”
“Why not? Missing my wife isn’t something to be ashamed of.”
As he spoke, Elias fastened her seatbelt for her.
Stella quickly kissed his cheek, then turned her head to hide a giggle.
Elias gently turned her face back, cupped her cheeks, and leaned in for a kiss. But Stella pushed him away slightly, covering her face awkwardly.
“Elias, a cop’s coming,” she whispered.
Elias looked a little flustered, brushed his nose lightly, and rolled down the window.
The cop froze when he saw Elias‘ face.
“M–Mr. Cross! Please, uh, mind your behavior,” he stammered.
“Sorry. Go ahead and write the ticket,” Elias said calmly.

The cop was shocked. This was the notorious “Ice King” Mr. Cross–being this easygoing was unexpected.
“This… This is just a warning,” he said, handing over a slip.
“Thank you.”
Elias took the warning, rolled up the window, and drove off.
Stella couldn’t hold back her laughter.
“I’m getting double the compensation tonight,” Elias said.
Her laughter stopped abruptly. “It’s still hours until night.”
“Fair enough. For now, you can tease me all you want,” he replied.
The car stopped at a red light. Elias laced his fingers with hers, kissed her hand, and looked at her affectionately.
Elias took her to a private room at a restaurant. Tess and Frederick were already waiting.
“Boss, you’re here!” Tess called.
“Tess, Frederick,” Stella greeted.
Frederick smiled and handed her the menu. “Order first.”
“Sure.”
After Stella finished ordering, Tess handed her the prepared files. “Boss, Nadia has been raised as an heir by the Corbin branch that adopted her since she was five. She’s a genius among her peers–even more talented than Sean’s father. Too bad she’s from a branch… and a woman. They say the heir doesn’t have to be male, but because of societal biases, she’s had to work a thousand times harder than everyone else.”
Stella nodded as she read through the files.
“For this heir assessment, even branch members can participate. But the Corbin patriarch still wants his own bloodline to inherit. That’s why he reached out to you. Another possibility: if your grandmother hadn’t left back then, he never would’ve become the family head. As for why she left? Chances are she got tired of the family infighting. Over the years, his sons and daughters have all passed away. One grandson has an incurable illness, and the other lacks ability. So he wants to pass the position back to his sister’s descendants.”
The more Tess investigated, the more she thought the Corbin family was cold–blooded.

She’d never survive the cutthroat Corbin family–she’d be out of the picture before she even got a real chance.
“Also, Nadia probably doesn’t know her real identity. Whether she realizes she’s just a pawn… that’s unclear. After all, if something happens to Sean, and Shane isn’t capable, the family’s power will definitely be split. Then they’ll reveal Nadia’s identity, and she’ll naturally become the Corbin family’s ruler.”
Stella nodded slightly. After a few minutes, she closed the files.
“Boss, should we tell Nadia the truth about who she is?” Tess asked.
“Not yet. But we can hint at why her adoptive parents took her in.”
“Got it.”
Just then, the food arrived.
“Let’s eat first,” Elias said, serving her a bowl of soup.
She smiled at him. “Okay.”
She ate with enjoyment, while he watched her with adoration, occasionally handing her what she needed.
Soon, he passed her a plate of fish–deboned, with a spoonful of sauce drizzled on top.
Frederick glanced at them from time to time, smiling with relief.
Tess leaned over and whispered teasingly in his ear, “Look at Mr. Cross. Take notes.”
“He really is someone to learn from,” Frederick agreed, smiling as he served food for her. “I’ll plan our wedding carefully.”
Tess stared at him. “I meant learn how to spoil your girlfriend!”
“Did I do something wrong? To spoil a wife, first I need to make you my wife,” he said softly.
Faced with Frederick’s affectionate gaze and happy smile, the usually bold Tess suddenly felt a little shy.
Stella watched them, wiped the corner of her mouth with a napkin, and smiled. “Looks like I need to prepare a wedding gift for Frederick and Tess.”
“Stella, let’s get married soon. That way we can share one gift,” Elias said.
Frederick chuckled and teased, “Elias, when did you get so cheap?”
