Jasper hated to see Jaron so broken and defeated.

But who could Jaron blame?

No one but himself.

He’d had the love of his life right there with him, and he’d never cherished her.

He smiled bitterly. “Amelia really is impossible to win back. I’ve been trying for over a decade, and I still can’t do it.”

Stella checked her and the medical report, then calmed him. “Don’t worry. She’ll be fine. She just went through a lot.”

At that moment, Amelia slowly opened her eyes and looked at them hazily.

“Mom, you’re awake! You scared me so much.” Jax couldn’t hold back his tears.

“I’m still here. Stop crying. People will think something terrible happened,” Amelia spoke weakly, trying to comfort him.

“Amelia, are you hurt anywhere?” Elias‘ voice was unusually soft.

“It’s nothing serious. Why did you come back?” Amelia felt guilty seeing how tired they looked.

“Listen to your sister. Go rest. Aaron knew they’d had a long flight.

Amelia looked at Jax. “Dad, you and Jax go home too.”

Just then, Jasper walked in with food.

“You’re back.”

Jasper touched her head gently.

“Jasper, good timing. Tell them to go rest.

Jasper smiled and sent the others away.

“How are you feeling?”

Amelia smiled faintly. “Just a small injury.”

“I brought you food.”

“Where’s Jaron?”

Jasper’s hand froze for a moment.

“Don’t misunderstand. I just want to thank him. I’m pretty sure he saved me.”

Jasper studied her. “Do you want to see him?”

“It’s not about wanting to. I owe him a thank you.”

Amelia smiled calmly.

Jasper could tell she had truly let go.

I’ll call him over.

“Alright.”

Amelia had just taken a sip of soup when Jaron walked in.

He held a bouquet of roses–her favorite.

“How are you? Does it hurt?”

“These for me?”
