Chapter 350 A Bold Plea Gone Wrong
“Take a nice bath.”
“Alright.”
“Wait for me. I’ll get it ready.”
Chloe smiled softly. “You’re really good at taking care of people.”
“Taking care of my girlfriend is what I should do.”
As soon as he left, Chloe received a call from Elias.
“Dad.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about the car accident?”
“I’m fine, Dad. I can handle this myself.”
Elias frowned. “Chloe, you should let everyone in Azure Peak know–my daughter is not someone to be bullied.”
“Dad, I have no intention of letting the Ryker family off.”
“There’s no reason to spare them.”
Chloe smiled faintly. “Don’t worry, Dad. I can handle it.”
“Alright. Daddy believes in you.”
“Where’s Mom?”
As soon as Stella knew, she immediately prepared to return to Azure Peak. “Chloe, are you burt?”
“I’m fine. Kieran only has a minor injury.”
“Is it serious?”

Stella breathed a sigh of relief. “Chloe, do whatever you want. Don’t worry about offending anyone. Mom and Dad are your backing.”
“Don’t worry, Mom. The Rykers are nothing to me.”
“Come home tomorrow night. Bring Kieran with you.”
“Alright.”
Chloe hung up. Kieran had already walked in.
“Your parents found out?”
She nodded slightly. “They invited you to our house tomorrow.”
Kieran looked both happy and anxious.
“Nervous?”
“A little.”
“Mr. Jagger, always so decisive–and you get nervous?” Chloe teased him playfully.
“Chloe, let me wash your back for you.”
“What about your injury?”
“I still have one good hand.”
Chloe nodded. She soaked in the bathtub, drinking red wine, staring at him steadily.
Isn’t he supposed to wash my back?
Why is he rubbing my feet instead?
“Kieran, you’re being naughty”
“You must be tired from wearing high heels.”

Chloe froze for a moment. I misunderstood.
The man is simply being thoughtful.
“What were you thinking just now?”
“What else could be on my mind besides you?”
Kieran’s throat tightened. He held the back of her head and kissed her deeply. The scent of red wine filled their mouths.
“Kieran, you should get some proper rest.”
“I’m not that weak.”
The room was filled with warmth and intimacy.
–
The next morning, at Azure Peak University.
Stella rarely taught classes, but every one was always full.
After class, students crowded around her. She answered every question carefully.
“Ms. Shaw, someone is here to see you.”
Stella nodded slightly. She walked over. The visitors stood in front of the alumni honor wall, right by Chloe’s profile.
“Hello. Who are you?”
“Mrs. Cross,” Eric said directly, “we are Sloan’s parents.”
Stella’s face turned cold. She looked calm and said nothing.
“Everyone says you’re a kind and merciful person. You’ve saved so many lives. You gave hope to families ruined by illness. You let poor students study here and change their futures.”

“What are you here for?”

“We beg you to spare our daughter. She’s young and reckless. Her whole life is ahead of her. She shouldn’t be locked away.”
They bowed low in complete submission, their voices full of desperation. “We know we’re wrong. Please have pity on us.”
People nearby began to whisper.
Stella narrowed her eyes. “If the reporters are here, there’s no need to hide.”
“Ms. Shaw, do you need help?”
“They’re trying to shame you publicly.”
“We’re law students. We can support you.”
Stella calmed the students. She looked at the couple and the hidden
photographers with a faint smile. “No one has tried to publicly shame me in years. You’re quite daring.”
The couple exchanged nervous looks. Eric had believed Stella, as a respected public figure, would care deeply about her reputation. He thought this dramatic gesture would force the Cross family to compromise.
But she saw his photographers at once and called them out openly. She stayed completely calm, showing no hurry to comfort them.
Her steady composure made it unbearable for them to stay in that bowed position. If they stood up now, they would only look more ridiculous.
“You beg for mercy. For what?” Stella asked calmly, showing no anger at all.
“Our daughter was arrested,” Jennifer sobbed, moving closer in total humility.
“Stay back. Don’t approach Ms. Shaw.”
“They could be dangerous.”
