Nicole hurried inside.
The Wellington family's doctor nodded to her and left.
"Amelia, how are you feeling? Better?"
"I'm fine after the shot."
Nicole breathed a sigh of relief.
"I didn't expect my period to come so suddenly. It's so embarrassing. I think I messed up Jaron's shirt."
"It probably didn't show."
"Good. It would be too awkward."
Amelia smiled softly. "Nicole... should I confess today?"
"Confess? Who to?" Jasper and the others walked in. Jaron asked curiously.
"I was going to say—"
"Amelia, guess what? I got a girlfriend."
Amelia's smile faded completely.
"I should thank you, actually. If I hadn't brought you here, I'd still be in training."
Amelia stared blankly. A sharp, bitter ache rose in her chest.
"Amelia needs to rest."
Nicole shot Jasper a look. He pulled Jaron. "Let's go outside. Let her rest."
"Wait, who were you gonna confess to? Do I know them? If it works out, all four of us are taken!"
Jasper dragged him out.
"Nicole... what's going on?" Amelia turned paler, her eyes reddening.
It was the first time Nicole had ever seen her so fragile. Her heart ached.
"It's my fault. I said that stupid soulmate thing. While he was calling the doctor, some girl confessed to him. He thinks she's the one."
Tears glinted in Amelia's eyes. She forced a sad smile.
"So even if I confessed... I'd just get rejected. Good. I saved myself the embarrassment."
"Amelia, don't be sad. There are plenty of guys."
"But it won't be him."
Amelia leaned on her shoulder, heartbroken.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have opened my mouth."
"It's not your fault. It was his choice."
Nicole hugged her. "Don't hold it in."
"I'm just... really sad."
"Amelia..."
"I'll be fine. He's just a guy. Maybe I'm only sad because I never had him."
She wiped her eyes, took a deep breath, and smiled as she patted Nicole's head. "Don't worry. I'm really okay."
Amelia forced a light smile. "Let's go back to the dorm."
"Party acts? It's easy. If no one volunteers, I'll play something," Nicole continued. "Piano, violin, guitar, cello... even saxophone, if you want."
Lynn and Sadie stared in shock.
Lynn breathed out, disbelieving. "Nicole... you can play all of those?"
"Yeah. I have certificates. I can perform last minute."
"You're amazing!"
Nicole scratched her head shyly at their admiration. "Just average."
Amelia was amused by her.
"Amelia, rest. I'll get food."
"Okay."
Nicole reached the dorm entrance and saw Jasper.
"Nicole, here."
"What's this?"
"Healthy meals. For four people."
Nicole's eyes lit up. "You had these sent?"
"Yeah."
"You read my mind."
She had just been thinking of asking their chef to make something for Amelia. He had already done it.
