Chapter 40 The Prodigy Healer Arrives
Leo walked out of the room, his expression heavy.
“Leo, how’s your grandfather doing?”
“He’s stable for now.”
Everyone else let out a collective sigh of relief.
“By the way, we found Uncle Jasper.”
Leo’s father, Mark, looked stunned. “Where is he? Is he refusing to come back?”
“I was in such a hurry to get back and check on Grandpa that I haven’t actually met him yet.”
Mark’s eyes were urgent, desperate. “Where is he? I’ll go with you. I’ll talk to him myself, beg him if I have to–anything to get him to come back and see your grandfather.”
“Let me check with Elias first.”
After confirming Jasper’s location, Leo and the rest of the Moore family rushed over.
Stella hadn’t expected to run into Elias at the underground auction. He looked surprised at first, then genuinely pleased to see her.
“Stella, what are you doing here?”
She noticed the shift in his expression.
“Just looking for something.”
Her mentor’s birthday was coming up soon.
She wanted to find him something special.
“What about you?”
“I’m looking for someone.”
“Stella, my private booth is right over here. Want to join me?”
She glanced around.
She’d arrived in a hurry, and all the booths were taken.
“Actually, there’s a problem I’ve been stuck on. Maybe we could talk through it?”
“Sure.”
Gideon’s smile faltered slightly.

Elias‘ approach to wooing someone was… certainly unique.
Tess raised an eyebrow. This guy… The way he looked at the boss definitely wasn’t innocent.

Once they were in the booth, Stella and Elias talked for a while, going back and forth on some theoretical problem.
When an antique painting appeared on the auction stage, Stella’s eyes lit up.
Elias caught it immediately and raised his paddle. “Five million.”
The opening bid was three million dollars. Jumping straight to five made a few people frown and glare toward the second–floor booth. But once they caught sight of Gideon’s face, every single paddle went down.
“Stella, you saved me before. I never got the chance to properly thank you. Consider this my gratitude.”
Stella paused, her hand hovering over her own paddle.
She’d thought the medicine he’d bought for her was his way of saying thanks.
There was more?
This man… What exactly was his angle?
“Elias, where’s my uncle?”
The door swung open and Leo hurried in, breathless.
“Over there.”
Leo followed his gaze. Even after twenty years, the man from his memories was still graceful, still composed.
Aside from the gray threading through his hair, he looked almost the same.
“That’s him, Leo. That’s your uncle Jasper.”
Mark’s eyes glistened, tears threatening to spill.
“Elias, thank you.”
“Go. Now.”
Elias knew he’d just gotten lucky.
Jasper had only recently returned to Azure Peak City. If he hadn’t, tracking him down might have taken much longer.
Stella glanced at the Moore family from the booth.
“Beep beep!”

“Master: Dear, the Moore family will find me today. Get ready to take the case.”
Downstairs, the arrival of the Moores had stirred up some commotion.
“Jasper. It really is you.”
Jasper’s brow furrowed slightly.
“Have you been okay?”
Mark gripped his brother’s hand tightly.
“Dad’s sick. He’s never stopped thinking about you.”
“Mark, I’m not going back.”
Mark’s heart sank.
“It’s been over twenty years. Are you still holding onto that anger?”
“If it weren’t for him, Nicole wouldn’t have disappeared. We don’t even know if she’s alive or dead.”
Jasper’s eyes reddened. He raised a hand, and the auction house security moved forward.
Stella watched from above.
Other people’s family drama wasn’t her business.
“Uncle Jasper.”
The gentle man from Leo’s childhood memories now radiated nothing but hostility toward them.
Something tightened in Leo’s chest.
Jasper’s gaze softened, just slightly, when it landed on Leo. But it hardened again just as quickly.
“Jasper, Dad knows he was wrong.”
Mark met his brother’s cold stare and looked down, guilt flickering across his face.
“Uncle Jasper, please just come see him once. He’s barely holding on. He’s been carrying this for years–it hasn’t been easy on him either.”
Leo reached for his arm, but Jasper pulled away.
“Better if we don’t meet. It’ll only upset him and make things worse.”
Jasper turned to leave. Mark lunged after him.
“Jasper, I’m begging you. Please, just come see him once.”
Mark started to lower himself to his knees. Jasper’s eyes widened, and he grabbed his brother’s arm, pulling him back up.

“What happened back then… none of us could have predicted it would end like this. Dad was wrong, I know that. But is that a death sentence? Is it?
“He lost his most gifted son, the one he was proudest of, for over twenty years. You think that hasn’t been punishment enough?”
Mark’s voice cracked. “I’m just asking you to see him. Once.”
Jasper hesitated.
“Ring…”
Leo’s phone cut through the tension. Mark’s heart seized. “Is it your grandfather-”
Leo answered, shaking his head.
His grave expression shifted. His eyes widened.
“Dad, Uncle Jasper–they found the Master Healer.”
“He’ll treat your grandfather?”
Mark’s voice was barely a whisper.
The Master Healer was known for one thing: his impossible demands.
