[Your father getting the death penalty was already him getting off easy, and now you’re trying to stir up more trouble? The only reason we’re not cursing out your entire family is because we’re trying to be civil -don’t mistake that for support, you absolute joke.]
[Hey @AzurePeakCityUniversityLawSchool, why hasn’t anyone locked her up yet? What’s taking so long? Are you all useless or what?]
[Anyone with family at Azure General Hospital tonight–keep your eyes open. If that piece of trash tries to run, we all go after him. A stain on society like that deserves to be dealt with by everyone.]
Jasmine never expected the public to turn on her so completely.
Furious, she threw her phone against the wall. When she tried to turn it back on, nothing happened. Regret and rage burning in her chest, she stormed out.

At Thorne Villa.
Arthur felt worse with every passing minute.
“The Shaw family… she really is one of them.”
Every new revelation about Stella’s identity felt like another knife twisting in his chest.
Slice after slice, the Thorne family name was left in tatters.
“With her mother’s situation being what it is, what respectable family in Azure Peak City would want to marry her now? Maybe Silas could swallow his pride and honor the engagement. The Shaws would help us get back on our feet–we wouldn’t have to leave everything behind.”
Elaine’s suggestion was cautious, testing the waters.
Arthur wasn’t immune to the temptation, but he knew better.
Even if Stella couldn’t marry into one of the four prominent families, she could still find someone far better than anyone the Thornes had to offer.
“Drop the schemes. If you have free time, pack. We leave as soon as immigration clears.”
Jasmine had just burst through the door and stood there completely lost.
“Grandfather, what did you just say?”
Arthur looked at her with undisguised disgust.
If it weren’t for this woman, the Thornes would never have ended up like this.
He didn’t answer. He just went upstairs.

“Silas. Did you find me a lawyer? When can my mother get out?”
“I’m not your errand boy. You don’t get to demand anything from me.”

Jasmine’s face went white. “I know you’re angry, but we’re supposed to be getting married. Every penny from Harlow Group went into Thorne Group. You’re not seriously going to ditch me and my mother now, are you?”
“That was your bad investment, not mine.”
She’d known he was cold, but she never imagined the Thornes could be this shameless.
Taking her money and running? Not a chance.
“Give me back what’s mine. I don’t care where you go after that.”
Silas ignored her completely. Now that he knew Stella was a Shaw, his regret was eating him alive.
Jasmine grabbed his arm. He shoved her hard, and she hit the floor.
“You pushed me?”
“I’d hit you too.”
He did. Jasmine couldn’t fight back. Elaine watched from the side, a nasty smile playing on her lips.
“You… you’re all vultures!”
Bruised and bloody, Jasmine was thrown out onto the street.
She looked up at the dark sky, hatred burning in her eyes.
Stella. This is all your fault. I’ll make you pay.
Azure General Hospital.
The light above the operating room finally clicked off. Stella walked out alongside the chief surgeon.
“How is he?”
“Surgery was successful. He’ll need to stay in the ICU for observation.”
“When will he wake up?”
Frederick held his breath, his eyes locked on her.
Everyone else’s gaze followed suit.
“That depends on how he recovers.”
“You worked so hard.”

Frederick’s chest ached as he gently touched her hair.
“Stella… I’m sorry about earlier. I shouldn’t have grabbed you like that.”
Kenneth couldn’t quite meet her eyes, guilt weighing on him.
Thinking about his aunt–about how she died–felt like a knife twisting in his gut.
This girl was all that was left of her. The only piece of his aunt still breathing.
He’d protect her with everything he had. The Shaws would not fail again.
“Kenneth. I don’t blame you.”
She knew how close her mother had been to them. Seeing them now, she felt that connection too.
Kenneth’s eyes glistened as he pulled her into a hug.
“I’m,sorry. We couldn’t protect you. You went through so much alone. And we couldn’t protect Aunt Nicole. She… she…
His voice cracked. He still couldn’t wrap his head around it–his aunt was really gone.
“I don’t blame you. And I know Mom wouldn’t either.”
Somehow, that only made it hurt more.
