You Are Mine Little Sister (by Syra Tucker) novel Chapter 215

RALI

"I think this one is better," Ruby said, holding up the red heels.

"Please. She isn't trying to go into a coven is she? Her dress is already red. The heels need contrast," Veronica countered.

"But her dress isn't entirely red."

"Red still dominates."

"You know what your problem is, Veronica? You're terrible when it comes to color. It's a good thing you're focusing on law and not fashion because that'd have been a disaster."

I sat there on the couch, watching helplessly as my two best friends argued over the shoes I was to use at my reception.

This was really happening.

In the end, I decided to go for both options the two girls choose, telling them I'd make a decision on that day.

They grumbled in unison but accepted defeat.

A little later, while Ruby wandered off to terrorize another rack, I pulled Veronica to the side.

"Hey, fiancee. You good?" She narrowed her eyes at me suspiciously.

"Yeah. Just been really anxious about the whole thing."

"Mm. I get it. But there's nothing to worry about. We'll all be there for you."

We stepped out onto the balcony. The air was cooler there, lighter somehow. I took a breath.

"Um... Nica, there's something I've wanted to tell you."

Her playful expression vanished instantly.

"Void was saying it wasn't necessary," I admitted, locking eyes with her, "but I just felt the need to let you know. Blayne is dead."

Her face didn't change.

"Void, he um...he killed him. I tried to stop him but..." I sighed. "I know you were also deceived by him then. But I saw it; you'd really loved him. And I—"

"Rali." She scoffed. "Don't tell me you're trying to sympathize with me."

"N—No. I'm not. I'm—"

"God, that's ridiculous." She rolled her eyes skyward. "Blayne might've been a good fuck, but I hated that man with a passion that could fuel hell. Honestly, that son of a bitch is just lucky I wasn't there to kill him myself."

She blew out an exasperated huff.

"I hope his death was painful enough. I swear, I'll be having real issues with Void if he didn't make that asshole suffer."

I laughed. "You can trust Void on that. He died miserably."

Ruby suddenly appeared between us. "What the hell are you guys talking about without me!?"

"Nothing much. Just discussing potential buyers for you. I've got a shortlist."

I burst out laughing.

As always, Ruby fired back and they dissolved into another thirty seconds of chaotic bickering.

"Oh, by the way, don't you think you should get your husband a gift? I think most couples do that," Ruby suggested as we continued shopping.

I smiled at the thought. "I already have that covered."

"Oh. You already got him something?"

"Something like that."

VOID

I'd researched on this.

Like every other strange, unnecessary thing I'd ever had to look up because of Rali.

What did wedding mornings feel like?
