RALI
The hall was a little noisy.
Everyone wanted to shake hands with us, say their congratulations. Not having the crowd I wanted didn't mean the hall was close to empty. Vlyrissa had a lot of friends to invite. She claimed she needed people to witness her daughter's wedding, just as she had witnessed theirs.
Then, Veronica and Ruby had a few acquaintances to invite over as well. Marovelle and her family were present as well.
The hall wasn't filled with numbers; it was filled with love. I realized I wouldn't have traded it for anything else in the world.
"Mr. And Mrs. Belmonte," Vlyrissa called, approaching us just as we finished greeting another cluster of guests. Her smile glowed. "Congratulations, once again."
"For the third time, thank you," I replied with a playful roll of my eyes.
She laughed, then turned to Dominic. Her gaze lingered on him for a brief, unreadable second before she stepped forward and pulled him in a hug.
Woah...
Dominic hesitated for some seconds before lifting his hand and resting it on her back.
"You better take good care of her," she told him as they pulled apart. "She's my baby, Torturer. I may not be as powerful as you are, but I'd hunt you with everything I have if you ever hurt her."
"Likewise," He tipped his head at her. "You hurt her 'again,' you'll have me to deal with."
I burst into laughter, unable to help myself.
Mum turned to me then, her eyes softening. She pulled me into yet another hug—my fourth one for the day, to be exact.
"Congratulations, my baby. I'm so glad I get to witness this amazing home you'll build."
The hug lasted a little longer, her words softening my heart even further.
I closed my eyes. "Thanks, mum."
She went stiff in my arms. She pulled away slowly, shock flickering across her face like lightning.
It was the first time I was using the name on her. And to be frank, even I hadn't seen it coming. The word had just surfaced.
But it sure felt good.
Her eyes shimmered with tears. She lifted a hand to my cheek and one tear slid down.
"Thank you," she whispered.
Void slipped his fingers into mine, pulling me aside. He had his phone in his hand.
"It's here," he leaned in to whisper.
Oh... The second best part.
I went back to Vlyrissa. "Please, keep everyone busy. My husband and I...we need to take care of something."
Just then, the sound of the helicopter had everyone turning and mumbling.
Vlyrissa eyed me suspiciously. "Rali, where are you going?"
I didn't get the chance to reply. Void's hand tightened around mine as he broke into a run, tugging me along with him. Guests called after us, voices stacking in confusion and laughter, but neither of us looked back.
We burst outside to find the helicopter already waiting, its blades slicing the air into frantic spirals. I giggled breathlessly. It felt like we were two reckless teenagers running away from home, except I was dressed in a full wedding gown.
Void helped me into the back of the helicopter, then climbed in after me. That was when we noticed almost everyone from the hall had run out with us.
I leaned forward toward the cockpit. "Go, go, go!"
The pilot didn't waste any time. The helicopter lifted into the air before anyone could even get close to us.
My head fell on Void's shoulder as I laughed like a criminal who'd gotten away with something.
"You're a bad influence," I said when I finally caught my breath, still resting against him.
"Don't get me started. This was your idea."
I rolled my eyes.
