You Faked Your Deaths to Punish Me?! That’s Illegal, Family! novel Chapter 90

Chapter 8

More than a dozen fully armed vehicles crashed through the Bryant family gates and stormed in.

The Operations Director, despite having seen many situations, had tears in his eyes when he saw my injuries all over my body.

“Who did this?!” He made no attempt to hide his fury. “You-you actually dared harm a national medical genius!”

The Bryant family members who had just been questioning whether I was a fraud all looked at me in unison.

Only Celeste remained defiant.

“Who are you people?” she screeched challengingly. “How dare you touch the Bryant family’s territory? Be careful or you’ll lose your jobs. Let me tell you, I have-”

Click.

A cold gun pressed against her temple.

Celeste, who had been chattering nonstop, immediately shut up. Facing death directly terrified her so much that her legs went weak and she collapsed to the ground. The team members tried to help her up three times but couldn’t.

“Useless,” the man cursed.

I was transferred to a medical vehicle.

The hospital had already prepared blood packets matching my type. I received transfusions while they cleaned my wounds.

“The patient has severe abrasions requiring careful cleaning to prevent infection,” the doctor reported. “Her joints and wrists are most severely injured-they may only recover to 70% function in the future.”

The tough-as-nails man’s eyes immediately reddened.

“Don’t be afraid. We’ll bring in specialists later to ensure you recover fully,” he said, holding back tears. “The country failed to protect you-we’re derelict in our duty!”

I shook my head: “How is my old mentor…”

The director let out a long sigh: “The rescue was too late. He’s become a vegetative patient. The secrets he held may never be spoken again in this lifetime.”

I was devastated: “I’m sorry. If I hadn’t failed in my mission, my old mentor wouldn’t…”

The country had trained me, yet I failed to complete my mission.

“This isn’t your problem-it’s mine!” the man said through gritted teeth. “The leadership has seen your text message. When you suddenly went missing, the action team started looking for you immediately. After confirming you were in danger, they gave us direct orders to find you as quickly as possible.”

“We found this place using GPS tracking from the phone that sent your text. Thank goodness we made it in time.”

“This time, we’re settling both new and old scores.”

The director jumped down from the medical vehicle and walked straight toward Celeste.

“Do you know who I am?” he asked.

Celeste shook her head trembling, not daring to look directly at him.

“Then let me tell you,” he said sternly. “I’m responsible for protecting Dr. Summer’s safety. When her life is in danger, my duty is to help her escape that danger.”

“What you’ve done is enough for me to execute you on the spot!”

Celeste’s eyes nearly popped out of her head.

“But she only has surface wounds-I was just having a little fun with her!” she frantically defended herself. “I’m the daughter-in-law the Bryant family is marrying-my status is much more noble than hers. Why are you targeting me?!”

The man didn’t bother with more words and directly ordered his team to handcuff her.

He sneered. “Because you harmed the country’s only heart surgery specialist, preventing her from performing operations, and caused an old leader to die without treatment!”

“Just those two points alone are enough for the court to sentence you to death immediately!”

Celeste, who had been so arrogant, finally knew fear.

“Marcus-” she looked panicked. “Save me! I’m innocent!”

Marcus’s face was iron-gray, his lips trembling.

He hadn’t expected that everything I said was true.

My status was bigger than he could imagine.
