Chapter 9
The Operations Director was already someone he didn’t dare provoke.
Going higher up, he didn’t dare even think about it.
Thinking of everything he’d just done to me, he was filled with regret. Doting on Celeste not only brought him no benefits-it would actually destroy the Bryant family!
The other Bryant family members realized this too.
Everyone felt sick to their stomachs.
Who could have imagined that the person they looked down on was actually a national-level surgical specialist? If they’d just been a bit nicer, they could have grabbed onto powerful coattails and soared to success.
But instead they’d competed to back up Celeste. She’d dragged them all down!
“Almost forgot about you.”
The director pulled out a record sheet: “You drove around in Aria’s car showing off, taking Celeste shopping fifteen times, joyriding twenty-two times, with countless other trips. Every time you demanded special escort vehicles to clear the roads.”
“Your and her behavior constitutes endangering public safety and misappropriating state assets. With multiple charges combined, I need to send you away for at least twenty years of reflection.”
“Twenty?!” Mother-in-law was shocked.
Twenty years in prison would ruin even the most capable person!
“I have an engagement with Aria-I’m her fiancé,” Marcus immediately said, his face pale. “Given this relationship, couldn’t we just… let it slide?”
I had to laugh.
I’d given him so many chances, but he’d never been willing to accept them.
Now, facing death, he finally remembered how valuable his status as my fiancé could be.
“What about her?” The director nodded toward Celeste.
“She harmed my fiancée-she deserves to die,” Marcus said with complete coldness. “Actually, she coerced me into driving. She’s the one who’s vain and enjoys the VIP escort treatment! Besides, she’s just my intern assistant. I can have as many women like her as I want!”
Celeste, who thought she was deeply loved, was stunned.
“Right! Her actions have nothing to do with our Bryant family!” Mother-in-law quickly chimed in. “I only recognize Dr. Summer as my daughter-in-law. This women? I don’t know her!”
Know
vant family was finished, they immediately distanced themselves from Celeste.

essed their fawning and backstabbing behavior, I might have actually believed they genuinely accepted me.
en one of them had truly helped me, I wouldn’t have been injured this severely.
ou forgot,” I said softly. “I already broke off the engagement with you.”

“Now I have absolutely nothing to do with the Bryant family.”
“No-I never agreed!” Marcus panicked. “I never thought about not marrying you!”
“Is that up to you?”
The director laughed: “There are plenty of people pursuing Dr. Summer-families you’ll never be able to touch in this lifetime! Her willingness to marry you was the Bryant family’s incredible luck! Since you looked down on her, forget it!”
Having lost everything, the Bryant family members took the opportunity to curse and beat Celeste.
They hated her for being a jinx and a homewrecker who destroyed their good family.
But they forgot that without Marcus’s indulgence, she never would have had the courage to commit such evil acts.
Afterward, I was transferred to intensive care.
Fortunately, my internal organs weren’t deeply injured and could heal with gradual rest.
Those who had begged me to treat their illnesses were extremely disappointed to learn I couldn’t hold a scalpel for at least a year. They took out all their pain over losing family members on Celeste and Marcus.
In less than six months, the Bryant family was completely ruined.
Everything Celeste had done was thoroughly exposed. Due to her heinous behavior, she was sentenced to death with immediate execution.
Her family chose to disown her and wouldn’t even let her through their door when she died, afraid of being implicated.
As for Marcus, he was sentenced to life in prison.
And I worked hard on rehabilitation, striving to restore my hands to normal function so I could heal and save people.
